Is this normal/common on Harvoni?
« on: August 23, 2015, 06:52:23 am »
I'm in my 3rd week of Harvoni (without Ribavirin) and have had various side effects, some of which have now lifted.

In the last few days I've noticed a few bouts of dull liver pain.

Is this normal? I know these are strong drugs and it's fighting the virus everywhere (and in the liver), but just thought I'd ask.
1982 - Contracted HCV genotype 1a (blood transfusion at birth)
2002 - Diagnosed with HCV, liver biopsy showed early fibrosis
2005 - 48 wks Interferon/Ribavirin, relapsed at EOT
May 2015 - Fibroscan showed F0, pre treatment viral load 223,000 IU/mL
Aug 4th, 2015 - started 12 week course Harvoni

Hey MJ, just started week 6. Week 5 sent Me on a new set of sides. Ones of which is that I am am extremely aware of My liver. Not really pain, more irritated. Some liver quivers ( kind of like a muscle tick) . Startles Me but no pain. Possible clearing of toxins built up over the years of Hep C & abuse on My part I'm guessing.

Re: liver pain. I don't know anymore what "normal" is. However, if you search this site for liver pain on Harvoni you will certainly find many instances of people who have various experiences of it. I had some dull aching in the liver area before starting treatment, but just realized it's been gone now for several weeks. I have only 4 more pills to go out of 84! Sure hope it stays away. Things can change very quickly and responses seem to vary with little rhyme or reason. Good luck and try not to worry - maybe at this point everything is "normal".

42 is half way. Tomorrow you'll be more than half way!! Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it? Actually, the second half did seem to go faster than the first. Hang on and in a few weeks time this will all be history! SVR in sight!

For about a year prior to my starting treatment I had a dull ache in my liver area deep inside under my right rib cage area.  I was afraid that it was my liver starting to hurt from my HepC and I worried every day, then out of the blue I was told I was approved for Harvoni and could start treatment!  I really had the mindset that that would never happen!!  I took the Harvoni for 8 weeks and during that time the "ache" slowly went away!  At EOT I was undetected and I will be tested again in Sept for 4 weeks EOT, but at this point the "ache" is GONE"!!  So, for everyone posting about the "ache" or "quiver" or "liver pain"  I just wanted to chime in that I felt that too and now it is GONE!  I hope that is a good sign for me and for all of you still on treatment!
