ALT issue
« on: October 20, 2015, 03:14:17 pm »
Blood work sample taken on 8/04/2015
ALT 90
This has been pretty much my normal since I have been tacking it. Many years now.

Blood work sample taken on 8/24/2015 for FibroSure test
ALT 239

Sounds like false results, any thoughts ?

Just finished day 28 of Harvoni yesterday,

Hi KNW,
IM not on Harvoni, but Viekira and high  ALT is a lab normality  that occurs

"All patients should have hepatic lab testing during the first four weeks of treatment. Approximately 1% of those taking Viekira Pak had post-baseline serum ALT levels greater than five times the upper limit of normal (ULN) after starting treatment. The incidence increased to 25% among women taking a concomitant ethinyl estradiol containing medication. "

Definitely  speak to your Doctor about it though. Cal :)

Just finished day 28 of Harvoni yesterday,

Welcome, KNW. Before I was treated, I had a steady ALT for many years, but when it began to rise, did it ever! As you can see from my "signature file" below, my ALT was even higher than yours before I started Harvoni. It also jumped around quite a bit: my 4 readings during 2009 were 184, 100, 340, and 195.

Your ALT 239 might well be accurate. Since you just finished day 28, I assume you're about to take 4-week labs. Presuming Harvoni is working well for you (as it does for nearly everyone), your results should show a great drop in ALT -- into the normal range or very close to it.
