Did your blood get any open sores on your daughter?

Your hep c infected blood would have to enter her blood stream

To the best of my knowledge there are no reported incidents of a human to human scratch resulting in infection for a better answer please ask your doctor.

Xitalai,
It's actually very hard to contract hep c. which is why most are from direct blood to blood contact. I don't think it would have infected her. I believe you are safe. Your are not Typhoid Mary. It will be ok. Cal :)

The reason im nervous is because i had heard we have mucus membranes under our nails and if you get blood under your nail you can contract something is this true?

I found this on AIDS Vancouver and believe that this answer would apply to HCV as much as HIV as far as the blood borne aspect of both illnesses

http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/question/nail-bed-hiv-transmission

The soft skin under the nail does not provide direct access to the bloodstream and thus does not allow for HIV transmission (unless, as you already know, it is actively bleeding from a deep cut). Bodily surfaces that can transmit HIV are thin mucous membranes such as those in the vagina, anus, urethra in the penis, etc. Even mucous membranes in the mouth are too thick for HIV transmission.

No, the skin under your nail is not a mucous membrane. A mucous membrane can be described as a moist layer of epithelial tissue. Examples of mucous membranes are those lining the: mouth, nose, vagina, urethra, etc.

This is an excerpt and not the complete text. I just selected text relevant to your question. If you want to see the complete response please go to the link.

Are you being treated for hep c yet? Once you get treated and cure your hep c you will no longer carry the virus and will no longer have to live with these concerns.

Best to you
Lynn
