4 week results VeikiraPak & riba
« on: January 21, 2016, 02:50:09 am »
Hi people,

I hope you're all doing ok.
I got my 4 week results (they took a week to come through) - although I couldn't
get any actual figures, the nurse practitioner said that my VL had lowered to what seems like almost half and my ALT and AFT's 'look good' while my HBG continues to drop.

I have to admit I have been waiting for these results for a week and was secretly hoping there'd be an undetected.

I'm surprised by the HBG, as I am feeling better - I think the lowering of the ribaviron has reduced the asthenia, and while I remain breathless, I've adapted (I'd be a good case study for Darwin). I'm working 4 days a week and basically resting the rest - doing physical tasks in batches - reading, mulling over my life, watching a bit of TV (anyone seen the new Sherlock?).

I wish I could get the actual figures and she said they won't be testing for VL again til end of treatment. She said 'we can see its working.'

All I remember are the people who were UND at 4 weeks - can you share your experience if you weren't?

Thank you -you  incredible people from all over the globe!

Hi Hazel

Really on treatment viral load testing is of very little value basically if still carrying a low viral load on treatment all it does if freak people out unnecessarily.

People who had been not detected on treatment have relapsed not many but a few. We also had a few folks who were weakly detected at their end of treatment viral load test and went on to attain SVR 12.

I understand it is great to see a not detected on treatment but the only test that matters is the 12 week after treatment has finished the test for SVR 12.

So my suggestion is to try not to stress it will be fine the odds are on your side

I was still detected at 4 weeks and felt like you did - disappointed. I went UND between weeks 4 and 8.

I'd type more but I'm about to fly to Cuba and I'm getting deTh looks from the air hostess person. I'll be out of the loop for about 9-10 days.

Stay positive! And try to get your numbers! :)

Hi, Hazel. And congratulations on the fact that the meds Are working! If your VL had gone up then there'd be cause for grave disappointment, but as it is, it has been confirmed that the meds are killing the virus. Sure, it's not as fast as we'd like it to be, but it IS happening. Stay positive, if you can. You're really getting there.
