Help in identifying new med or maker
« on: February 05, 2016, 03:20:56 pm »
I just got a box delivered and the Ribavirin is different

I was taking capsules that were white (ivory) and had za-12 inprinted on it with 200mg on the bottom

Today's drugs came in and it says  Ribasphere and has a 3 R P on it and 200 on the other side. it's blue and alot smaller. Is this a generic? Is this the same? I had to switch pharmacies and this is from Accredo in Indiana.
Any help or anyone taking the bllue pills?

I was getting my riba through Accredo also. There are several companies that make Ribavirin.

I was also getting Ribasphere RibaPak but I was getting the 1200 dose package so they were dark blue and had 600 marked on them one in the morning on at night.

Which was convenient until I needed to dose reduce so for like a week I was just taking one 600 mg pill until I could get the 1000 mg dose pak sent to me which had a lighter blue pill marked 400 and still the darker blue pills marked as 600.

I ended up throwing away a lot of ribavirin when I completed treatment. So I wish I had just had the 200 mg size much easier to change dosage and less pills going to waste. I turned them into my doctors office when I finished TX

ZA-12
Ribavirin 200mg Capsule
This medicine is a white capsule imprinted with "ZA-12 200mg" and is manufactured by American Health Packaging.

Ribasphere is manufactured by Kadmon Pharmaceuticals

Looks like Ribasphere also has a copay card $5 a prescription

Good luck with treatment
