My liver doctor who treated me wants me to have a final viral load test 1 year post-treatment (which is coming up next month), although he said I was cured at SVR24. And I have another doctor who wants me to have another fibroscan in one year's time (so that would be 2 years post-treatment) - I suppose to see if there has been a reduction in fibrosis since being cured.

best,
kim :)

Bill congratulations!
I wonder how many of us are slowly reaching SVR this year? I think my 24 EOT will happen at the end of 2016.
So far at 4 weeks on tx I am undetected and assume I will continue to stay UD!
8 days to go and good by Harvoni, I am so looking forward to getting this drug out of my system!

Great news Bill! You should have received a "Congratulations" letter from the VA. That letter may mention: Due to the scarring (fibrosis) in your liver, you will need to have an ultrasound to check for liver cancer every 6-9 months. Yours risk of liver cancer is much lower now that the hepatitis C is gone but still high enough that doing this test might pick up any early cancer that could be more easily treated. Please discuss this with your primary Care Physician - they will need to order this test every 6-9 months.

Thank you Jakas.I'm THRILLED to say the least.I couldn't be happier and I feel great.

I asked about another Fibroscan Kim.They said they've been curious also so they set me up with one at 6 months/I have to check but that should be coming up soon.I'll let you know if there is any improvement at that point.I also see my Primary Care Doc on January 12,2017 so I request labs then.

Hi Wig.I didn't wait for the letter and checked it on the MyHealthevet site. The heck with a bunch of waiting.LOL :)
