A beacon of hope!

A beacon of hope

I posted a few weeks ago(day 6) the problems that I was having taking Harvoni. This is now day 26 and hopefully my personal journey may be of help with those struggling.
Five years ago, I almost died from meningitis
(bacterial). I was in a coma and missed 8 months of work, and eventually had to retire in 2015. The past few years, I have been tired, lack of stamina, severe arthritis in my thumbs and neck, and skin problems on the back of my head. I had accepted that I had to live with the results of the meningitis. I'm a fighter, but it got me down more than once.
A year ago, my family doc was concerned because my liver enzymes were high normal to slightly elevated, so he ran a test confirming Hep C. Was sent to a specialist and I could not get approval from insurance. Fortunately I did a month ago. I'm lucky because my viral count is very low, I'm subtype 1-a and my fibroscan showed my liver was normal, no fibrosis at all F-0.
My reason for posting this is simple. Once I got past the first couple of weeks, I have had zero side effects. It's like I'm taking a vitamin. The remarkable thing is that starting a couple of weeks ago, I started feeling better, much better, like I did several years ago....and the energy, I feel 20 years younger. It is humbling. The arthritis in my thumbs is going away. My range of motion is almost normal and my pain is half gone and getting better. Even my scalp is clearing up and returning to normal.
I return for a check up and viral load test next Monday. I have no doubt what the outcome will be.
I went from despair on day six to exhilaration in 3 weeks.
For those of you a bit down, take heart. What a blessing of a drug and how fortunate am I.

Fantastic!

I was full-blown symptomatic for twenty years when I had Hep C - but started feeling better almost immediately on Tx.
Certainly, the brain-fog was clearing that quickly.

You're right, Cyrgen.
It's such a blessing, isn't it?
