Sex with a Hep C+ woman concerns
« on: September 04, 2017, 02:28:27 pm »
Hello all,

While I have read up a lot on the Hep C sex risk, I still have a couple questions.

I had a one time sexual encounter with someone whom disclosed after the fact that they were HCV+. (Partially protected sex) I realize this was not smart of me. Possibly relevant, myself and this partner are GHSV1 positive, although neither of us were having an outbreak at the time, as far as I know. I know I definitely wasn't, at least.

I got tested for antibodies 4 weeks after possible exposure and was negative. I've read it takes 4 to 12 weeks for antibodies to show up if infected. Considering that, I'm now at the 12 week mark and asked to get tested again, but my Dr. says he doesn't recommend testing, but I'm not sure I agree.

Is this a case of 'listen to your Dr., you're fine'? Do I need to disclose there is a small chance I could have HCV to a future partner? Perhaps I'm overthinking this, which I do tend to do.

In an unrealated HCV story, my father was cleared of hep C within the last year after previously failed treatments!

Thanks in advance.

Hi - You asked some questions and I put my responses in (), "Is this a case of 'listen to your Dr., you're fine'? (Yes. Unless you were having sex with knives or chainsaws, it is unlikely you were at risk.)
Do I need to disclose there is a small chance I could have HCV to a future partner? (No) "

Fantastic about your father.
