Could I be infected with HBC and or HCV?
« on: December 20, 2018, 12:02:15 pm »
Hello,

I had a sexual encounter with a girl 35 days ago and Im concerned about having contracted Hepatitis B or C. She did oral sex for 1 or 2 minutes and when we were to start to have sex the condom broke right at the first penetration. I pulled out right away and washed my penis.. after that we didn't continued.  After 13 days of the exposure I tested for Chlamydia, Gonorrea and HIV. They all came out negative. After 20 days of exposure I tested for Herpes 1 & 2 and both came out negative.  My only concern now is HBC and HCV.

So based on my exposure.. how likely I'm to have contracted HBC or HCV?

Thanks

Hep C is a blood borne virus it is not considered by the CDC to be a sexually transmitted illness although there is a small risk of sexual transmission for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in rough sexual practices, or in the presence of HIV.

Hep c infected blood must enter the blood stream of an uninfected person. The most common method of transmission is having a transfusion prior to 1990 when antibody testing for hep c was developed and the blood supply was secured or the sharing of IV drug needles.

If concerned speak with your doctor and get hep c antibody testing done no sooner than 12 weeks after a potential exposure.

Here is some information about hep c and hep b for the general public from the CDC
