Virus came back after Harvoni
« on: April 18, 2019, 03:18:52 am »
Pretty depressing. My treatment finished on March-8th, last test on Feb-8th showed that virus was undetected. I was tested on Monday and just found out that I have around 300,000 of them back in my blood. I will see a doctor and will talk what is next. Meantime maybe someone here knows what could be the options. I was taking harvoni for 16 weeks. I am getting crazy here waiting to talk to my doctor tomorrow, so maybe somone knows if there is any other hope or pretty much that is over for me...I have compnestated cirohsis as well.

There have been a few here who relapsed after treatment with Harvoni but treated again and were cured. I think they took Mavyret or one of the other newer treatments.

I treated three times with interferon based treatments in the past and was a null responder. Then when the new generation DAA’s were first being approved I treated with solvaldi and Olysio for 12 weeks but relapsed when tested at 12 weeks post.

In Nov 2014 I started 24 weeks of Harvoni and later added Ribavirin for the last 15 weeks of treatment. That one worked and I was finally cured on my fifth treatment. I also have cirrhosis diagnosed in Jan 2008.

Hang in there you can still be cured
Genotype 1a
1978 contracted, 1990 Dx
1995 Intron A failed
2001 Interferon Riba null response
2003 Pegintron Riba trial med null response
2008 F4 Cirrhosis Bx
2014 12 week Sov/Oly relapse
10/14 fibroscan 27 PLT 96
2014 24 weeks Harvoni 15 weeks Riba
5/4/15 EOT not detected, ALT 21, AST 20
4 week post not detected, ALT 26, AST 28
12 week post NOT DETECTED (07/27/15)
ALT 29, AST 27 PLT 92
24 week post NOT DETECTED! (10/19/15)
44 weeks (3/11/16)  fibroscan 33, PLT 111, HCV NOT DETECTED!

Thank you so much for your response and giving me hope. It was so nice to be without virus. My brain fog that I thought it might related to my age  was totally gone. I am so much more productive at work. It will be really bad to go back to that brain fog again

I am so sorry. The retreatment data looks really good, but I know that this is not at all what you or any of us hoped for. Here for you if you have questions or just want to vent.
