Type 1 stage 3 cirrhosis and on sovaldi and pegasus
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:38:08 pm »
Hi

I have been reading alot of the posting on this forum and I am hoping that I can find someone out there that has type 1  stage 3 and is taking sovaldi and pegasus now.  My husband is at this stage and was only at stage one 1.5 yrs ago.  He did the treatment of pegasus and Incivek and only made it to 23 weeks wasn't working and had to stop.  In the mean time he was reading on the internet , and for the people out there that are newly diagnoses PLEASE DO NOT TAKE MILK THISTLE .  My husband has and his dr. tell him that that is what pushed him to stage 3 so fast.  So please make sure you tell your doctor if you are taking anything even if your think it is trival.

Now , I am hoping that someone out there has Hep c type 1 stage 3 and is ahead of my husband in treatment.  He is on this 5th week now , his Dr. is not going to test viral load till 8 weeks so there is no disappointment during the treatment as it is is only chance right now.

And for the people that are taking sovaldi how many of you are on the positive side of the viral load to defeat the virus

I started SOL+PEG+INTF 12 weeks ago. I'm genotype 1a. My baseline VL was 9,000,00/ml/ul.

VL after 7 days of tx was 103/ml/ul. VL was undetectable at wk 4.

I have my EOT VL blood draw 4/18/14 and hope to clear (SVR12). Will get the results the wk of 4/21/14 and post.

I failed treatment in 2001 and was part of the PEG INTF clinical trials (I was a null responder).

Solvadi is a game changer! ♪♫♪♫

I hope to slay this dragon by July 2014 (SVR24).

Best wishes, Mike

You are looking good so far :) glad for you .

The doctor should be doing liver functioning blood work weekly for the first 4 weeks as well as CBC work. A drop in liver enzymes (AST and ALT) is a good clinical indicator that the treatment is working. Your husbands liver enzymes could actually normalize once the virus is arrested, meaning the damage may have slowed or stopped. This happens because the virus is cleared from the liver and stops inflaming it.

Please not I'm not a doctor; but you should ask the specialist about this so he or she can explain.

Best wished for you and your husband, Mike
