Partner with HCV started Harvoni Today
« on: November 25, 2014, 11:34:37 pm »
We got the call from the Canadian Red Cross on a Saturday in 1996 to let us know the blood he had donated was HCV. AND SO OUR HELL BEGAN.

From that point on, I have worried, studied, prayed, been a care taker, and watched my soulmate suffer. I seriously even started to look for a support group for this type of anxiety.

So, watching all treatments, scared to do nothing but scared to do the invasive treatments, we were waiting for Harvoni for a few years as us all.  Fast forward, we got a call from the pharmacist on Friday late. Of course, the specialty Pharmacy is closed all weekend. And on Monday at 9:00 am, expecting a denial, we were told instead that we were approved!!!  I just cried from joy, fear, and all of the above. There is again Hope.

More importantly, I am so grateful that you all are here. He knows about this site, too and will join soon. But, I wanted to tell you all, thank you for leading the way and giving us ideas on when to take this, side effects, and just what to expect.

Feeling so blessed and grateful. Thank you all and will keep you posted as well as celebrate your miracles together.

Thank you Lucinda. Yes, I will post the story. So filled with emotion over it, and honestly feeling alone as the " partner who isn't going through the treatment so, so what" syndrome.

But, I will post, and until he feels up to it, I will post his sides as we see them so others can learn.

Day 2: no side effects last night, and he slept well. He was in amazing spirits in the morning like "okay, this is going to be okay" attitude.

He noticed that he felt something after taking the first pill, like that first beer feeling. No other noticeable things going on.

Looking forward to more days behind us...

Great news, Frankoswife! Yes, yes, yes! So much to be thankful for. :)

Today is Day 8 on Harvoni for me. Other than extra thirsty the first few days and a bit of insomnia the other night, side effects have been minimal. I wish you and your husband an especially blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving celebration. Also look forward to sharing victory stories!

Be well,

Judy
