De Quervain's Tendinosis Side Effect
« on: March 04, 2015, 04:28:56 am »
Has anyone developed Tendonitis while taking Riba & Solvadi?  I am trying to figure out why out of the blue would I have this in my right wrist.  It appeared about 2  weeks ago and about 2 months into treatment?

Could be the Rib. I had horrible tendonitis in my mouse thumb. Then I got frozen shoulder. Have you lost weight? Muscle mass? Go easy on yourself. Ask if NSAIDs are OK for you to take sparingly. Try icing it. Hot baths feel good on the bones, too. Don't over use the muscles if you can help it to avoid injury while on treatment.

I'm not on that med, but I can tell you how to help your tendinitis. I've had it for years in my left hand.

Do the heat, ice, and NSAIDs, as suggested. Also, put Bengay on it and then heat on top. I've found out the hard way that you have to use name brand, original formula, stinky Bengay. The store brands I've tried aren't as strong. And the no-smell and all the other fancy kinds don't have the same formula.

Wear a wrist brace when using that hand a lot, especially for repetitive motions. You can buy a cheap brace for under $10.

And there's exercises to help- use your left hand to pull your right thumb back towards your arm and stretch out the tendon. Also, open your hand as wide as you can. Then slowly and deliberately touch your thumb to your other fingers.

I hope this all helps you! It's what my orthopedist has me doing.

Hi RWEHEPC, I had surgery for De Quervains.  Hep C messes with your connective tissue.  I had the steroid shot once, but it was so painful, I opted for the surgery and glad I did.

Funny bsmirh7896 I was diagnosed with that.  Hurts like shi? When it flairs up.  I hate the wrist brace but will wear it for the next 6 weeks and see if it helps

Good luck, RWEHEPC, the brace never worked for me.  The pain would shoot all the way up my arm.

I had the surgery  It was short 30 min, general anesthetic, and three weeks with a soft cast and just like that... no more pain.  It's awesome.  If you live in the atlanta area I'll give you my doctor's name.  He was awesome!!!

Avoid cortisone shots while on treatment. Prednisone and steroids can "promote HCV entry by up-regulating the SRB1 expression."
