Exposed to Hepatitis B
« on: October 28, 2014, 03:49:32 pm »
Me and my boyfriend have been together for over a year. In that year we have had unprotected sex 3-4 times. We are both bisexual and I am usually the one who is giving, not receiving. Before we got together I was tested for everything and it came up negative. He was told today that he has hepatitis B and I am getting tested tommorow because of this but I am terrified. He has had joint pain and back pain for years before he has met me and I am assuming that is where this has come from. I am just wondering is it likely that I am infected as well.
I went to my doctor and asked for my immunization records and I was vaccinated for A, not B. I am completely terrified

So sorry to hear you may have been exposed to hepatitis B. It is transmitted sexually so you are taking the right first step of getting yourself tested.

The blood test used to check for infection can be quite confusing, given that a number of different combinations of antigens and antibodies are possible and can mean different things. Here’s a link with the most important test results to know:

If it comes back positive, there are lots of options to help keep your liver healthy so work with your doctor to ensure you take the right steps for you.

There isn't enough information to be able to answer your question. Best to wait until the results come back.
