What happen on this day?

At the bottom of the forum list is a box that states how many people are on the forum at the present time. Does anyone know what happened on June 20, 2013? There was a very large number of people and it was 5:15 in the morning.

We believe these were spambots attempting to find weaknesses in our Forums software. There are groups out there constantly searching the web (and Forums software in particular) in hopes of inserting malicious code. We remain very diligent in keeping our servers and Forums software current to keep them out.

The real high mark just occurred on Monday when we had 112 concurrent visitors.

Ian,
Thanks for the information and I so glad that IT was able to protect the site. It bad enough that we are fighting a virus, but to having to defend Hepmag against a virus is insane.
I don't understand what hackers get out of crashing a site. They did it to one of the auto forums that I belong and where successful in shutting it down.
