Started harvoni treatment on Nov 4
« on: December 10, 2014, 03:52:51 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I started harvoni nov 4th.  My first 2 weeks were easy, just a mild headache.  A week before thanksgiving I got really sick with bronchitis.  Finally,  I have recovered from that.  I am struggling with extreme tiredness, headache, blurred vision, and moodiness.  At night after I take the pill, I can't focus and deal to well with my daughters.  Still this is better than interferon and ribavarin!
Can anybody relate?

Hi Mina,

Welcome to the forum, sorry your post was buried and I missed it. I am happy you were able to get started on Harvoni. I can tell you that I had many many issues when I first started on my original treatment of Sovaldi and Olysio due to my body's reaction to the Olysio. That being said I still say that many of my side effects were due to the disease (cirrhosis) and also to my body fighting with the medications to rid the infection. The only side effect I can for sure say was due to the medication was a horrible rash/itch which immediately started clearing itself when I stopped the Olysio and started Harvoni last weekend. I had every symptom you described which is how I was finally diagnosed with Hep C.

I truly believe we all react a little differently than others and it's the luck of the draw how sick or not sick we will or won't get during treatment. I also believe that once you are UD you will start to feel better and that right now your body is in a battle and that's what you are feeling. Not so much a side effect of the medication but more a side effect of the battle within to rid the infection.

10 Weeks into treatment I actually am starting to feel human, it just happened in little spurts here and there but each day seems to be better than the last.

Hope that makes sense and that you listen to your body, rest as needed, eat well and drink plenty of water!

Mel

P.S. I think these treatments have been a little tougher on some of us women, perhaps because we have a SuperWoman complex!

Hi Mel

Thanks for responding.  It is good not to feel so alone with this.  I am in my 6th week with harvoni.  A lot of the symptoms I was feeling were from bronchitis, and I am feeling much better now.  Headaches come and go, still  tired, especially at night.
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow for  4 week blood work results.

I hope you are well!
