SVR/4 Sovaldi/Ribavirin
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:30:59 am »
Well,
Got the first post treatment lab work. After 24 Weeks of treatment.
So Undetected at 4 weeks. Like others, am apprehensive and feel like I am still in waiting mold. I know it is effects of the drugs still weening off the body, and the typical HepC patients' status of unbelief. (Is it really gone?)
Ribavirin has taken a toll and leaving in a slow manner.
My symptoms of fatigue seemed to increase after I ended treatment. I developed a rash I think may be from cryoglobulemia but it has since subsided. I do not have a confirmed diagnosis of CRYO but tests shows it exists, and the Hepc patient may be relieved of it if the virus is eliminated. (I am waiting on this)
Still itchy in random places, but not much rash issues now.
Dealing with Peripheral Neuropotthy on my feet, but that was there before treatment and it has got no worse, can't tell if any better.
I am Genotype 1B for those on this same combo.
I am curious if DesertGuy got results back yet?

going on 11 weeks post tx. and liver pains are almost non exsistant. pancreas rears its ugly head sometimes. the wierd thing about my liver , for a long time post treatment when i would get nervvous or angry . it would hurt or i would feel my liver. very wierd, since that was never an issue before. now, it doesnt happen but that was definatly a wierd feeling. my energy and thinking are pushing aside the bad ,paranoid habits i developed while the disease was expanding under my daily wine intake. i have found non alcholic beer, but can only drink one, after 2 one day i had a hangover the next morning.

zeena, A lot of the non alcoholic beers have too much malt and do cause headaches.  I have tried them all and the only one I find does not is Clausthaler, especially the dark.
And I miss my glass of wine when eating out.  I hope to be able to have it again down the road………….

Non alcohol beer is not completely alcohol free I got this from the Clausthaler site

Clausthaler Non Alcoholic: Lager (bottom-fermented), beer style is pale gold and it’s taste is fresh and flavorful. Is Clausthaler completely alcohol-free? No, we know that a minimal quantity of alcohol must be produced to create a good tasting non-alcoholic malt beverage. The alcohol content of Clausthaler Premium is 0.45 % volume, which lies below the 0.5 % volume maximum alcohol content specified in the statutes as the definition of "non-alcoholic", (us.clausthaler.com)

This is the same for all NA beers in the US. For me with cirrhosis I have been told even this is too much alcohol.

Best to all

This is true…….even the nonalcoholic wines are the same.  I have always in the past made a point of drinking any of these with food, especially the wine.
Right now the only time I have drank the non beer is when at a party and then followed up with some good food.  I am such a lightweight these days. ha!
It is by volume though so I do keep that in mind whenever I drink any which is not often at all.
Maybe when I am ND after a year I will have a real glass of wine with my Thanksgiving meal in 2016 !!

Actually from what I was reading on the Clausthauler site many common foods have trace amounts of alcohol greater than their NA beer but as much as I like beer I still think I should play it safe with the things I know have alcohol

Cheers!

Update

Two months Post Treatment and I feel better. The neuropothy on my feet have improved a little and I'm now able to stand on my toes. No rashes. Just got a comprehensive health panel and kidney, liver, blood counts, lipids are all in good range.
So no symptoms of relapse so far. I'm not getting PCR until June from the Doctor, but tempted to get it on my own for $325.00. at 3 Months. Tough decision cause money don't grow on trees.
If any of you had the money, would you do it a 3 months ?

On another note**    I myself will abstain from Alcohol completely. Not worth it.
Even if my liver completely rebuilds.

I wouldn't, because there are a lot of other things I'd rather spend my money on, and  the test doesn't really change anything. I could get at least 4 massages for that.  However, you can shop around for a better price, such as here: http://help4hep.org/what-we-do/ ($220)

Thanks Lucinda,
I have a membership to 24 Hour
Fitness that I pay $50 a year, got a special long time ago. The hot tubs is what I like but a full massage does sound good.

Definitely shop around for a better priced lab……….that test is under $200 here in Tennessee, it used to be over $300 years ago when they had to send out to labs that did it - now most do it.
My gastro does not check viral load during treatment at all, just at 1 month post, and 6 month then year later.  I had to ask for it to be check at 3 months - which is coming up end of this month.
Seems all doctors have their own reasoning.
