Hi Harvonitoo, yes, you are correct. Any item that may have been contaminated with is a possible re-infector. Heck, I am replacing my mouthwash if I go undetected. I have had my electric tooth brush for about 2 years and I bought a replacement today for the whole thing just to be safe, even though it uses replacement tips.  I have had HCV for more than 30 years and I don't want it to come back once the dragon is slain!.

Best wished,

@Kate, I got my ALT, AST and for the first time in 25 years of testing, they are in the normal range... Yahoooo, All I need now is the Viral load, I doubt it will show up this weekend.

Feeling more hopeful, off to look at some photographic art at the museum. 50 years of Kodak.

-8 degrees when I got up at 5 AM, stay warm today, it is supposed to go to -20 tonight. TV predicted 3-5 " of snow yesterday, we got 14 where I live. Worse than we got from Juno the other day.

Have a great day,

harvonitoo

found this on line.  a few years old but probably still relavent

•As reported in the June 15, 2010 edition of The Journal of Infectious Diseases, researchers from Germany confirmed that HCV survives longer in liquids than it does when dried on surfaces. They found that in a liquid environment, HCV was detectable for up to five months at lower temperatures.
•As published in a February 2010 edition of Virology Journal, Chinese researchers determined that HCV could survive in a liquid medium for two days at 98ºF (body temperature),16 days at 77 ºF and at least six weeks at 40ºF (average refrigerator temperature).
•Presented in February 2010 at the 17th Conference on Retroviruses & Opportunistic Infections, American researchers found that under the right circumstances, HCV remained viable in a syringe for up to 63 days. Circumstances that increased HCV infectivity include syringes with detachable needles, lower temperature and larger volume syringes.

Good day to all warriors
Kate, best of luck with your results!!! Im sure you will be UD!
On the topic of recontamination, I took a class with Sovaldi co. Gilead. They advised to use new tootbrushes and razors from 4 weeks on. Also to eitber replace or boil your nippers, clippers or any implements used. Followed with a 15 minute soak in bleach and water. Bleach will kill the HCV . If you yave any doubts, throw out and replace. Best wishes...Sunrise

I forgot.. change your toothbrush and razor weekly to insure no more risk of recontamination. Better safe than sorry...blessings Sunrise

I'm going to get my 8 week VL test now. I change my razor head every week anyway but I use a Sonic Care tooth brush so replacement weekly would be $$$$. I could soak it in bleach. Guess I'll use an old fashion tooth brush until I get my results.

I was going to think positive and just get a new tooth brush today but....
