Genotype 1b
« on: February 01, 2015, 03:48:57 pm »
Hello, my name is Connie, I am 62 yrs. old and I was diagnose with HCV on 2000. I spend hours on the forum and I decided to go with new treatment.  Because I have genotype 1b I did not agree with conventional treatment. Two days ago I do blood work, next week I will do liver MRI and after that I am ready for the Harvoni. I notice they are not so many persons with GT 1 b. I will appreciated if somebody with same genotype will tell me, how Harvoni working against the virus.
If I made any English mistake please  excuse me, I am from Europe and English is second language from me.
Thank you
Connie

Hi Connie, I am genotype 1B and started Harvoni about a week and a half ago.  I'm doing well.  No bad sides.  Actually, this weekend I had a bit more energy than I usually do.

Good Luck.  You are on the road to recovery.

Brenda.

Hi Connie - welcome!

I am also 1b and day 63 of Harvoni (into my 3rd and hopefully last bottle).  Last blood work - end of December shows me to be undetected and although my platelets are still a bit off, everything else is in normal limits.  My doctor expects me to remain undetected and I sure hope she's right.  Like Brenda, I have had few sides and am doing quite well.  I wish you good luck and am also hoping for us to all be able to say "cured" this year.  Try to stay positive, drink lots of water and eat healthy  as you can.  This forum is a great support, please check in if you have questions or just need a friendly ear.  We're here for each other.   ....Islandgirl
