Hello, new here found out in Nov last year i was Positive for hep c I figured it must be a new thing i had no reason to have it except through recent surgery from bad accident involving my liver ... I was fully ready to hear no damage but treatment available figured all the crazy things I have suffered from for years and years autoimmune like illnesses were blown off by docs, even suffered sepsis  after 2 separate operations 22 years apart both mistakes made by medical staff... but I got through all that survived with 30 percent chance or less....I have been tested multiple times just in the last 5 years for all hep I worked around medical patients in auto accidents so i was tested constantly....last test was a year ago hit tree 75 mph back seat restrained but impact lacerated my liver and other injuries however nothing showed up for hep or even that my liver was enlarged other then swelling at lower lobe injury... I went to GI doc yesterday he looked at my blood work the ultrasound told me I had been sick with this for no less then 25-35 years... I am 43 I just now test positive and have stage 4 with cirrhosis....never been a drinker etc...is this actually possible to have hep c neg antibodies for this many years if so how? He wont even order biopsy said i was being put on top priority for treatment.. felt my liver and said the u/s shows double the size it should be...sorry so long the shock was huge I believe now that all these years of begging docs to figure out what was wrong with my body and immune system is because of multiple unexplained viruses plus being septic and born with liver problems what I don't accept is why I would have stage 4 liver disease with hep c and it just now shows up?

I have never heard of anything like this. The only 2 guesses I have (and  they are just guesses), is that sometimes we hear about one-time exceptions, such as a case study I read about someone with cryoglobulinemia. My other thought is what if you just recently acquired hep C, but coincidentally had another reason for the cirrhosis. Honestly, I have no idea.

thank you for response I am in just awe of it....i would think less then a year ago when I was in ICU with 3rd degree lac to liver with just slightly elevated liver enzymes all the scans and mris they would have questioned anything other then injury..I can only hope for the best. Is there any specific tests I can ask for to see if it was something I can ask for. The doctor wasnt listening to me when I told him with proof in my hand neg. tests even just 9 months ago...he is putting me on top priority for Harvani...

Your case is so unique that I just can't think of what to ask for, but I would be sure your doc ruled out all liver diseases.
