Harvoni Treatment & Extension to 24 weeks
« on: March 13, 2015, 08:42:25 pm »
Hello everyone,

Background: Originally scheduled for 12 weeks

I learned earlier this week that I finally became UND somewhere between week 8 and week 12. I still had a VL of 17 at week 8, and my hepatologist and I discussed extending treatment to 24 weeks. I am totally on board my doctor's decision.

I am currently in week 13 . Acaria was able to negotiate a 14-day emergency supply from insurance while we wait for their decision. I have one week left of meds. I am preparing documents now for Gilead's Path program as an alternate plan in case insurance denies me extended treatment. It would be a complete waste of money if they do, since SVR is 98% for slow responders who complete 24 weeks.

I'd like to hear from others in the group who are late responders and were approved for an extension to 24 weeks, and how you're are doing; physically, mentally, and how you managed the insurance obstacles. The FDA did not set requirements for people like me (slow responder who was originally approved for 12 weeks but requesting an extension to 24 weeks due to VL at week 8. I appear to be breaking new ground.

Thank you. I am grateful for the opportunity to post to this group.
