wondering what time of day to start taking harvoni

I am starting harvoni as soon as accredo gets it to me.  I am pretty strong and can ignore small aches and pains fairly easily.  I have decided  IF  I have side effects, they will be limited to fatigue and headaches. I don't get paid if I don't work, so not coping is not an option.  so, my question is, how long after taking it, do other folks get fatigued? headaches will be present this time of year anyway due to pollen and I have an appointment with a pharmacist tomorrow to ask about aspirin etc.  I would like to be able to feel like #%$& when at home, not at work. no one at work knows and I do not plan on telling anyone as the gossip tree will have spread in no time with distorted facts, not to mention the stigma due to ignorance. thanks in advance for any info (no horror stories please).

I thought the headaches were mild, and a single 500 mg Tylenol took care of that. I I thought the best time to take Harvoni is when you can remember to take it. I took t in the morning. Good luck! You have a great attitude.

I decided to take mine before bed, at 9 PM.  My reasoning was that I would sleep thru any side effects.  Now finishing up week 7, and no side effects.  So much foy my theory!  Lucinda's advice seems the best, take it when you are most likely to remember, same time every day.  Gook luck!

I took my first dose last night at 9:00, the battle of good and evil begins!  I also changed my toothbrush/razor which I will do weekly.  Good luck to you.

I take mine at 5pm as soon as I get home from work.  If there are side effects, I am sleeping it off; so far so good.  :) Also it is something to look forward to when I walk in the door.

Do what works for you. today is the 5th day, I feel pretty good already.

I went for the evening thinking that if there were side effects Id sleep through them ,cant afford to miss work. The good thing is for me the only side effects were a few light headaches and a few days of very light nausea. basically nothing to worry about.  So in the end it would not matter am or pm ifor me.

Best of luck with your treatment, I hope it goes as easy as it is for most of us.

I would be interested to hear what more people have to say about the time of day they take Harvoni and why.
The reason I ask is because I have read that some people experience a lot of energy and/or anxiety and insomnia few hours after taking their dose.  I would welcome a burst of energy but not during the night
I take my Thyroid meds as soon as I wake up in the morning 4:00 AM

Does anybody know exactly how many hours after taking the medication will the possible side effects start?  Just curious and not trying to stress myself out

I also take thyroid medication and always took it first thing in the morning. I now take Harvoni an hour or so before I get up and then thyroid pill an hour or more later. Some mornings I also take Harvoni fasting because some mornings I need to talet Prilosec.

It's a dance but very do-able.

I take in morning when I get up with lemon water, you guys should look into the lemon water, it's a good idea...

concerning side effects, I would say that maybe the severity of your liver condition will determine the possible side effects you may experience...

I set my phone to remind me I take it every day at 8am. I take it with a probiotic drink and about 8 oz of water., that I keep by my bed. My reasoning is, I often have trouble sleeping and wanted to be through whatever side effects before bedtime. I only have fatigue, kind of run out of steam at 6 or so. So no trouble sleeping. I sleep 8 full hours every night.  Some headaches. But often drinking more water "washes" away my headache. I drink water constantly through out the day. I keep a stainless steel water bottle filled with me and one in the fridge at all times. I don't do plastic water bottles. Silly expense and tons of garbage. I have a filtered water in my fridge door and at my sink. I try not to chug it, I just drink water all day long. I also use a 1 week pill box. So if I forget (and I have!) if I took my pill or not. The box doesn't lie. 12 weeks today. 12 more to go...it becomes a blur. So the box helps me count the pills, days, weeks etc.

Wasn't sure if I should take it in the morning and then go to work and whatever happens, happens or be safe and take it at night and sleep away any unwanted side effects.  But then I read that some people get energy from it and don't want the energy to go to waste while I'm sleeping LOL
I appreciate all the input.  Still waiting for the specialty pharmacy to call me back about shipping and co-pays etc.. Why does it take so long?  Or I guess why does it feel like it is taking so long?

I go to work at 2 PM and take my Harvoni about 4 PM after everything has settled down and day shift has left for the evening.

So I guess for an 8 AM start time person the equivalent would be about 10 AM or basically once you are settled in to your day.

I wake up at 4 (take Thyroid meds)
Get to work at 6:00 AM
and the day begins, so I could take it then
Or else I would have to take them after I get home about 3:30 PM

I guess my only concern is that if any side effects do kick in, I would rather they not happen at work.  On the other hand if I get some good bursts of energy like some are reporting I would like to be awake to enjoy it haha

My Harvoni will arrive tomorrow so I guess if I want to start tomorrow it will have to be after I get home from work or in the evening.

I didn't really have any sides from the Harvoni. I am on Riba and it made me anemic so feeling kind of run down but I just keep trucking on and on.

 I can do this and I REFUSE to have side effects-Gotta get to work everyday and carry on with life stuff.

Can your doc prescribe Procrit for you for the remaining days of your Tx?

The last time I did the Tx I went anemic but hovered around 10.1-10.2 meaning the insurance wouldn't cover it till it was below 10.0. When I hit 9.8 the doc wrote a script for Procrit and it really helped with that drug out feeling.

Our plan was to dose reduce I started with 1200 mg after 3 weeks went to 9.3 so was reduced to 1000 mg checked a few times and was holding steady at 10.0 haven't been checked again since 3/17/15.

Hi all
I am on my 4rth day now and taking it at 5 Pm and I noticed that I get a little boost of energy a couple or so hours after taking it.  I know it is probably too soon to even know if this from the Harvoni or in my head.  But if I wanted to switch to morning time can I do that?   I was thinking of doing it over a few days.  Like take it earlier and earlier each day until I get to the time I want.  Or can I just do it tomorrow?
I have read some people changed it around but don't want to do anything at all that may counter productive or make me sick. 
The reasons are
I seem to run out of steam a few hours before the next dose so moving the time woukd make this happen when I'm already home from work and asleep hopefully
Boost of energy is better to have during the day.
I may be over thinking everything too

I take Harvoni at 12 Noon..I slowly adjust from 1PM cause it was easier to remember. On my 4th Week and I am sleeping better than I have in years! Mild Headaches off and on for 1st week and that was it.

I tried calling support path to ask how I can switch my dose from 5PM to early AM. They said to call my doctor.  (Fat chance i will get anybody to call me back) 
So I guess I will just slowly adjust it an hour or two at a time until I reach my desired time.  I couldn't sleep last night even with Ambien so  I need to take the med in the morning.  I wonder if I could get away with taking it 2 hrs earlier each day.  I don't want to OD on Harvoni or jeopardize my treatment in any way.  If anybody has experience with this please post

Just back it up you won't od  by taking the dose 20 hours later. If you look at the instruction it says if you are late taking a dose take the dose and resume your normal dosing schedule the next day

"If you miss a dose of HARVONI, take the missed dose as soon as you remember the same day. Do not take more than 1 tablet of HARVONI in a day. Take your next dose of HARVONI at your regular time the next day."

So say you were 4 hours late that would mean take next dose in 20 hours I am sure this would also apply if you want to change the time you are taking you med but always best to discuss with you doctor or the nursing staff or your prescribing pharmacy. I have Express Scripts mail order but they provide that service they have pharmacists available for these types of questions.

Lynn thanks! I was thinking of taking it earlier when I mentioned OD  LOL sorry that was kind of a bad taste joke. But was a little concerned that I might have too much in me at once if taken earlier
I thought about calling my specialty pharmacist but I honestly think they would probably tell me the same thing my support path did.  I am unlucky with having a crappy doctors office so I'm not gonna even bother with them

I just tend to doubt taking at 20 hours vs 24 hours would make any difference your speciality pharmacy should have pharmacists available this is their area of expertise even more than your doctor.

Doctors know illnesses and treatments pharmacists know medicines. The pharmacist us also a 4 year college degree I believe if not a 6 year degree.
