Week 6 on Harvoni and Ribavirin. At week 4 they had to lower the Riba below therapeutic dose because of sudden onset of severe psychiatric symptoms. Gastro said today that there are no studies that indicate that the level of Ribavirin I am on has been shown to effect efficacy of the Harvoni for people with Cirrhosis. She says that the treatment recommendations by Gilead is XXX amount of Ribavirin per body weight for the 12 week treatment and I am not able to take full dose. She said test results indicate that 24 weeks of Harvoni only is just as effective.

Well my 4 week RNA viral count was <15. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. She ordered a 12 week RNA lab just to make me happy.

Group Health just has to approve the 14 week treatment. Which I was previously told that they would. But I have become a cynic when it comes to dealing with insurance companies in my old age. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. I was actually initially told I was doing 24 weeks without Riba...so it's back to the original plan, I guess.
