12 weeks- Harvoni treatment complete
« on: April 24, 2015, 01:45:09 am »
Blood test from Monday showed no trace of the virus.  Looks like I'm cured.  But they will run another viral load test in October to make sure it's over.  If one virus survived it will start replicating again and the load would be high in October.
Anybody here completed their Harvoni and been tested six months out?
I'm kinda jazzed, but October is a long way off.  They still want me getting ultrasounds on my liver every six months

Just thinking as Harvoni was only approved on October 10th that a patient who started on a 12 week course on that day (which I don't think was even possible) would just have gotten to 12 weeks post at the end of March.

The reports should start streaming in soon as we are just getting there now. Some of the 8 week treaters have been reporting in but I don't think there are as many of them.

Congrats on making EOT and undetected hope you make it to SVR forever!

Congrats Maddawg on your successful completion of treatment!  That rocks!  I'm right behind you.  I finish 12 weeks one week from today.  Why are you being recommended to get an ultrasound treatment every six months?  That seems somewhat frequent, if not excessive.  I will be seeing my hepatologist next week and have many similar questions, so I'm curious about that testing.  Thanks and all the best.

My liver guy wants me to have 6 monthly U/S. Checking for HCC and other nasties he says. Get it early, if it's there.

Reason is that I have had fatty tuners show up in the past that were benign.  Guess you can still get liver cancer.  If they want that, then I it's ok to me.

I also will also continue to be monitored with 6 month blood work as before to include the AFP blood test and abdominal ultrasounds for HCC. Also as I have a history of grade 3 esophageal varicies I will have annual upper endoscopies to monitor for the recurrence in any varicies. Even if my hep c is gone I will still have cirrhosis.

You're one day behind me. My last pill is next Thursday and I get my EOT blood test next Friday.  :D
