Cheap Antihistamine Combats Hep C in Mice
« on: April 21, 2015, 10:41:04 am »
Recently publishing their findings in Science Translational Medicine, researchers gave the drug chlorcyclizine HCl (CCZ) to hep C–infected mice that had been grafted with human liver cells.

The cheap antihistamine appeared to limit the virus’s capacity to replicate in liver cells, similar to the effects of approved hep C therapies, but without the toxic side effects.

There has been a previous post regarding this:

Clinical trials in patients have apparently been ongoing since March of last year:

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02118012
61 yo male
Genotype 1a, treatment naive till 8/6/15 when Harvoni treatment was provided through Gilead's Support Path after health insurer (HMSA) denied Harvoni treatment and appeal due to moderate F1/F2 liver status. Sides very mild, virus "undetectable" at 28 days.
