waiting for Insurance approval
« on: May 07, 2015, 10:50:49 am »
5 years ago I went thru Interferon and Ribivarin treatment for Hep C and while I was in my 11 month treatment period, Hep C was 'undetectable'. About 1 month after treatment my blood work showed that the treatment didn't work. My titer count is approx. 850,000 parts per million at this time and I am worried that this new treatment will not work. I have been alcohol free for 28 years and I am constantly asking my doctor for other advice and information on how to combat my Hep C.
I recently went to my Primary Care Doctor for tendinitis in my arm and elbow and she told me to take 800 mg Motrin. My Hep C Doctor told me to avoid any aspirin, motrin, and Advil type products and take only Tylenol. I need something for inflammation and I am at a loss for what I am to take now. Any help and advice would be appreciated as I await approval for this new treatment of Harvani.

Dave,

For anyone to answer, you really need to include some information about your case.  What are your labs like, how has your fibrosis/inflammation been scored, are you undergoing treatment, etc, etc.

Hi Dave,

To be on the safe side,  I would avoid anything but Tylenol, and do not use
More than 2000 mg  in 24 hours.

Your  GI Dr. Is prolly going to run labs  and get a fibrosis score of your liver damage for treatment approval and options...

I had a  previous shoulder injury before treatment and at the time I didn't know my liver fibrosis score, if I had, I would NOT have taken the tramadol or codeine even though I needed it Bad!

At F4 I can't take the drugs, it's too hard on the liver...
