When is first blood work during treatment? One month?
« on: May 12, 2015, 10:49:46 pm »
Hello to all! I hope everyone is headed in the right direction with treatment and by that I mean up and cured  :)  Do doctors check your blood work after each month? I'm day 13 with Harvoni, and it's only 28 pills,I'm doing 12 weeks. So far ,so good. I only had one day that was kinda bad, last week had vertigo from around 5PM-10PM a little ringing in my ears, other than that I've been fishing, riding my motorcycle, playing music  8)

I think it depends on the Doc as Lynn said. My doctor put in a standing order that I get tested every two weeks. I started on Thursday 3/12/15 and had my first BT on Thursday the 26th and every other Thursday after that until my two week post Tx test. I'm waiting on my 4th set of test results to come back now with  3 of the 4 tests being back already. I'm waiting on the PCR RNA which is usually back by Monday.

Apparently, according to HFH Lab who returned my call this morning, there is a national shortage on the reactive agent used to test for the RNA PCR Quantitative. Atleast that's what she told me. She said the Main Campus in Detroit where that specific test is done, is around 300 tests behind and that I should get my result by this monday.

A lot of different treatment management between doctors with Harvoni. Since Harvoni is not result driven dosages (same 1 pill a day for everyone) Some are not doing anything until EOT and then 12 weeks, some get it done monthly and on. IMO as long as there is at least 1 test close to EOT so that if you are a non responder or slow to clear the doc may have the chance to extend your tx to 24 wk and / or add ribavirin .

I though I would get no tests until EOT then out of the blue may MD office called to have a 8  week and now a 10 week and I believe as long as it is still undetected Ill have a EOT lab and appointment followed with a 12 wk, 6 mo and 1 yr
