Undetected after 12 wks of Harvoni
« on: May 13, 2015, 03:50:53 pm »
My Doc said to do follow up blood work in 6 mos. Most are doing it in 4? I started with F4-Cirrhosis score on fibrosure, liver score blood test. Wondering if the 12 wks were enough even though undetected since wk 8 on treatment. Should I go for blood work at 4mos post treatment or is 6mos OK. My Doc says don't need another fibersure test cuz there is no reason to know,, And Insurance wont pay for it. But, there is a reason if I need to be retreated if it comes back. There are 2 other treatments out there to try besides Harvoni. Doc said there are no other treatments. Makes me wonder? I still feel crappy and doc doesn't seem to know if liver can get better or not??He said it wont get worse, that alcohol and pot is bad, coffee is good. How can I find out? & Where can I find out how the folks made out on Harvoni that started in Oct 2014 w/F4? Their 6mos out form ending treatment.

There are better people than me who have answers. But remember that Harvoni has stopped replication of the virus, but as you stated the liver damage remains. There is evidence that the liver can repair itself depending g on the extent of the damage. As for the stats on those people who are 6 months post-treatment, my doctor didn't know of any, though I'm sure Gilead is collecting that data. I was curious about that well.
