Albumin and Platelet levels during Harvoni treatment
« on: May 25, 2015, 03:47:55 pm »
Hi all,

Just received the mother's blood work for the end of 8 week of the treatment. So far, ALT, AST and bilirubin levels are ok. Their level is lower than it was at the end of 2W of treatment.
But mother's albumin level is concerning me. It is going down, now it is lower than the inception of Harvoni treatment. The strange fact is that albumin level is out of the normal range. I have read that the treatment results in the increase albumin and platelet levels.
I hope that albumin level might increase at the end of the treatment. I googled to find some articles about the recovery of albumin and platelet levels after treatment. Sadly, I found some articles about interferon treatment. Even those articles say that after successful treatment albumin and platelet would increase in time.
But really I don't know and need your advice.

By the way, virus load test is ok, virus is negative according to the 4W test. She is on 12 week treatment.
thanks.

Forgotten to add:

Personally, I think the decrease of albumin during Harvoni treatment could be triggered by Harvoni. Because, before treatment it was higher and during treatment her all other blood works are improved. Besides of albumin. If we consider improved ALT, AST, Insulin and bilirubin as indicator of signs of successful treatment, so decline in albumin level somehow could be connected to the direct influence of Harvoni.
What do you think about that? Thanks
