Finished Treatment concerned if worked
« on: May 27, 2015, 07:47:48 pm »
My treatment ended 2 days ago but when I saw the Dr he said there is still only a 75% chance it has worked I was clear at 4 weeks and 12 weeks and have been ever since but my liver has become elevated any one know if this is a cause for concern was really hoping it was gone but not so sure it will be now :( I should have asked the Dr more about it but when I'm there I never think to ask what it may mean

Hi Unsure

What treatment were you on and what is your genotype?
Do you have cirrhosis and have you ever treated before or are you treatment naive? What was your pre treatment viral load and Liver functions ALT AST?

When you say your liver is elevated do you mean ALT and AST results?
What were they and when were these tests drawn in relation to the day you finished treatment?

If you can answer these questions we will have a better idea about how to answer your question. I believe most people their odds of cure are at least 85% or greater depending on the answers to the above.

Good luck

Ok so I read some of your old posts and see you are in Australia and the only treatment that was available to you was Interferon and Ribavirin and you are genotype 3.

Yes that is a tough road I failed Interferon monotheyrapy once and interferon plus riba twice I am genotype 1a.

Seventy-five percent is pretty good odds many were able to beat hep C with the old treatments so just hang in there. Also I think I saw Australia is approving some of the new treatments or will be soon so even if this didn't work newer treatment are coming.

Don't give up one way or another you will be free of this virus!

Yea my Dr said the new treatments are being approved soon I'm not sure what he meant about about my liver he mainly showed me graphs which made no sense except to see that what ever it was had gone up plus I've been pretty scatter brained lately and have trouble with memory and thanks for your support I really hope it's gone this time rather than wait for the new treatment
