Testing after 21 weeks oraquick rapid test
« on: September 21, 2015, 02:47:20 pm »
Hello everyone.

I have a question about the window period for antibody testing.  I had a risk 21 weeks ago.  My risk was unprotected anal sex with an unknown man.  I was insertive partner and it lasted about 5 seconds.  I had a rapid test at a clinic at 21 weeks, which was negative.

I am confused about the window period.  Some say 6 months, some say 12 weeks.  Which is it?  I am feeling a great deal of anxiety over this incident.  I am conclusively negative for all STD's, but I have read that HCV can be transmitted sexually, although that is rare.

I also wanted to add, what percentage of people will test positive for antibodies by 21 weeks?  Thanks
