Sofosbuvir Generic in India My experience
« on: May 14, 2015, 09:11:32 am »
Hi Folks I tested positive for Hep C last year. After deciding not to use the Interferon treatment I am now on my way to India to find out what the process is for buying the generic Sofosbuvir being manufactured there. I am recording my experiences in a diary published at

www.hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com

I hope by sharing this experience with you it may help some of you get Sofosbuvir at a much cheaper price than is possible in most western countries (I'm from Australia where the price for a three month treatment is $90,000)

Hi Greg.. has Sofosbuvir  even been proven to work by itself, or are you combining it with something else?

Hi Francis60
If they read my blog on

http://hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com/

I am posting a daily diary of the processes I have gone through in India. I expect to have a three month course of Sofosbuvir in my hands tomorrow. Not certain of the cost yet but it looks like between $900 and $1,200 for the full course (3 bottles of 28 pills). I will know more tomorrow. Hope that helps

Hi Greg, I just finished reading your blog, and it is fascinating!  I wish you the best for a successful treatment and SVR. You mentioned more than once in your blog about how crazy it is that there are very effective drugs available but that either the cost of the drugs or the lack of being "sick enough" are preventing so many people from receiving treatment. I, too, find that quite insane!

I was very lucky and blessed to have been treated in a clinical trial for GT's 2 and 3 with AbbVie's next generation NS3/4A protease inhibitor, ABT-493, and next gen NS5A inhibitor, ABT-530 (these are the next gen drugs of two of the drugs in the recently approved Viekera Pak for GT 1). I just took my 12-week post treatment blood tests this week and should get the results next week. I have been undetected since week 3 and have remained undetected through week 8 post-treatment. However, in this particular trial, even though you are considered "cured" with an UND result at week 12 post-treatment, I will not receive my "cure letter" until after the 24-week results.

After reading your blog of what you have had to go through to get treatment, I cried. I feel even more blessed for the opportunity I was given in light of your struggle (and the struggles of others on this forum and everywhere), but I am so sad that so many people can't get treatment. It's just not fair.

Again, I wish you the best, and thank you for putting you story out there for everyone to benefit from.

Hi Greg
I just finished reading your facinating blog posts.  What a story!
It was so well written and very interesting.  It made me remember my experience in Indiia many years ago.  Patience takes on a whole new meaning. :)
I am glad you were able to get the meds and am cheering for you.
I can't wait to hear what your VL and enzyme levels are.
Fortunately I was one of the "sicker" ones here in the U.S. so I was able to get
Harvoni through my insurance.  (The irony!)
I wish you all the best and I am sure a lot of people will benefit from your experience and blog diary
Good luck

For those of you who are following this
Here is a snippet from his last entry found here http://hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com/Buying-Sofosbuvir-On-line.html

"8 pm 12th June
I went to get my liver enzyme and viral load results today. First the bad news. There was a letter from Pathology saying that they had not done my viral load because the request had not been written by a specialist. Oh well if I had known I would have gone to the specialist! Anyway I will organise that next week. Now the GOOD NEWS!!!
My liver enzyme results were better than I had hoped (warning: only people with an ailing liver will get excited by these figures).
These tests were taken on the 3rd June 2015, 11 days into my treatment using Indian generic Sofosbuvir (Myhep) with generic Ribavirin. The results are compared with a test from 4th of May 2015 a week before I left for India.

ALP...............down from 98 to 68
Gamma GT....down from 222 to 109
ALT...............down from 464 to 32

All other enzymes in normal ranges. So for those of you who are worried about the Indian generic Sofosbuvir give up the fear and grab hold of hope!"

I am really glad to see these numbers and have enjoyed reading your diary blog so much!!  Anxiously awaiting for your viral load now Greg!  Good luck!! and thanks for all the hard work you have put into this!!  I am sure you have given so many people a real chance and a lot of hope

I have been anxiously following Greg's blog diary
and here is some goods and an excerpt

  "26th June 2015 V Day
"First he pulled out my liver function results: ALT down from 464 two months ago to 20 last week. Gamma GT down from 222 to 67 and ALP down from 98 to 68. He shook his head and smiled. "These are fantastic result!"
Next: the viral loads.
I held my breath as he read through the results on the computer screen then turned to me with a really big smile and said, "No detectable virus load." He smiled and shook his head again.
I almost cried. I could feel tears welling in my eyes...."
Read the full blog story here -->  http://hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com/Buying-Sofosbuvir-On-line.html

Very happy for you Greg
Keep up the good work!!
