other random late night thoughts
« on: September 02, 2015, 11:32:41 pm »
Not sure I understand this whole log thing either.

for ex.    If a vl of 100,000 drops to 1000 is that a 1 log drop or 2 log drop.

In other words does a log drop remove one digit from the end on a number or 2 digits.

Also , I went back to taking my 3 ribas in the day .... they caused insomnia the past two nights.  First time.  weird.

So now three in the day , two at night.  Hope it helps.

4 weeks to go.

simplest explanation of logarithms I could find for ya

http://www.math.utah.edu/~pa/math/log.html

What on Earth is a Logarithm?

Also found a log drop calculator
http://hcvsupport.org/log-drop_calculator.html

and yes that would be a 2 log drop as the number decreased from

10 to the 5th power to 10 to the 3rd power (AKA cubed)

Your question
"In other words does a log drop remove one digit from the end on a number or 2 digits."

A log drop equates to an exponential reduction if you are looking at multiples of 10 then yes one less digit.

Interesting side note if you graph an exponential function say 10 to the X power i.e. 10^x on standard graph paper it produces a parabolic curve put on logarithmic paper it produces a straight line.

Have you heard the news talk about earthquakes? The say a magnitude 4 is 10 times stronger than a magnitude 3 but 100 times stronger than a magnitude 2 an application of logarithms in our daily lives.

And of course we are all familiar with quantification of viral counts using logarithmic values. Logarithmic values is how scientists like to study colonies of species for example viruses.

10 ^5=100,000 dropping to 10^3=1,000 so a power of 2 reduction. This is only base 10 logarithms I am discussing there can be other base numbers used in logarithms for example the natural log "e"

The natural logarithm of a number is its logarithm to the base e, where e is an irrational and transcendental constant approximately equal to 2.718281828459.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_logarithm

Science rules!

have fun :)

Thanks LK,

That was logtastic!

I remember having a good drop # wise my first go around and was so disappointed when they took me of tx (although kind of glad to,cause it made you feel like complete crap, as you know) cause I didn't have a 2 log drop.  Doing better now with a 6.8 log drop!  Hope it sticks , next blood draw , next monday.

congrats on your svr!!

ps - I can only think in multiples of 10, thats why I have to do the "removing digits from the end" to figure this stuff out.  lol.

we have a 10 based number system because we have 10 fingers which I like to call my abacus lol.

Good thing we don't have say 8 fingers or 12 :)

yep, logs are so easy when you are just dealing with 10.  but after that forget it.

thank god for ten fingers.
