Rounding the bend for the final lap!
« on: August 03, 2015, 05:55:31 pm »
Well, I am almost to 6 weeks (two days away) of an 8 week treatment and just checking in to share how I am doing.

Again I had a very full and physical weekend with no ill effects! Saturday loaded trailer and hauled big load of palm fronds to dump. On the way back stopped along the side of the road and dug up a lot of sand to use as fill in my front courtyard. Got home and spread all over yard, went out and got another load and spread it out too! Worked from 7 am till 2 pm and it was about 107 out with my 13 yr old grandson.

Sunday I got up and cleared the side yard which resulted in another really full trailer load, cleaned the front patio and washed the front walls of the house. Through it all I drank gallons of water and took short breaks every hour (a bit more often as it got later). For a 54 yr old woman that was pretty good!!

I just LOVE how I am feeling! Six weeks ago this would have been impossible for me to do and I so hope this lasts after tx.  Oh, and I get my four week lab results on Tuesday!!

Peace, love and above all healing to all!
~Robin

Hi Robin,

Glad to hear you're doing well! I got tuckered out just reading about the landscape job you did and the temperature!  :)

Looks like you're going to slay the dragon!

Best wishes, Mike

On my very last week of a 24 week course of Harvoni.  The side effects did not bother me but I'll be curious to see how I feel after I complete the therapy.

I took my last Harvoni tab yesterday morning which completes a full 24 weeks.  I did not miss a dose, took my meds. everyday at same time +/-  1/2 hour.  Was SVR 4, 12 & 16 weeks.  Get blood work done next week, see my Hepatolgist on Sept. 1st and carry on from there.  Wow!

Wonderful news to hear Chino!!! I am still waiting to hear the results on my 4 wk tx labs and I am down to 9 days left of my 8 wk tx. I too am hoping for undetected results and looking forward to hearing SVR! In the meantime I am still rolling along at full steam though with no side fx and lots of energy. I did alot of loading and hauling again this past weekend - 5 loads to dump and though I was tired and kind of sore after 2 days of it I found it manageable. Sadly, because I was ill for so long my yard and property were severely neglected and I still have many loads to do but fortunately I feel like if I pace myself I will be able to do it!

WHOOO HOOOO! Just got back from my doctors office and received my 4 wk tx lab results!

HCV RNA, QUANTITATIVE REAL TIME PCR <15 NOT DETECTED
HCV RNA, QUANTITATIVE REAL TIME PCR <1.18 NOT DETECTED

That combined with the drops in my ALT from 56 to 26 and my AST from 44 to 16 makes me so very hopeful that I will achieve SVR12.

Terrific -- congratulations, Robin! Am I understanding correctly that your lab can detect HCV if there's as little as 1.18 IU/mL? That's amazing -- and very reassuring that none was detected in your blood at that sensitivity. (The lab I went to can only "quantitate 15 to 100,000,000 IU/mL of HCV RNA.")

You are absolutely correct Philadelphia! The 1.18 is a log UI/ml. I was so excited at seeing the "Not Detected" I didn't get that far in the writing!!!!

My doctor was pretty tickled that I responded so fast and we have hopes that I will be able to slay this dragon soon if it isn't already on its last legs!!!

Hello Everyone!!!
Got my EOT lab results today and my AST 21 ALT 30 and VL - UNDETECTED!!! Doing a little happy dance here! I honestly expected that as I have felt so good for my entire 8 wk treatment.
I was a little worried that maybe I would start to "lag" after stopping Harvoni however it has not slowed me down at all. Still doing my yard work thing, working full time and everything else that goes with having a house full of kids and animals. (are they interchangeable?) ::)  If anything I have noticed my head is just a bit clearer than it was so that is good.
Now the real waiting game starts - already have my lab orders for the next twelve weeks and follow up doctor appts too! Onward to SVR12!
    Peace, light and happiness~ Robin

Thank you everyone for all the support!! I sure need it, especially right now.
Monday my 87 yr old mama fell and broke her hip. She had emergency surgery Monday afternoon for a partial hip replacement and now has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of her. So glad I did tx and have more energy than I did before to help care for her and my dad who is 85.
In fact, when I wrote my letter to Gilead's Support Path that was the main reason I told them I wanted treatment. I was not so much afraid of dying from HCV (though I know it is not nice as I was with my husband when he passed) as I was of leaving my elderly parents, disabled son and 13 yr old grandson with no one to care for them. Am praying so hard for SVR and to know that my family will have me here for as long as they need me......

Hey Robin! That's excellent news about your EOT labs. I'm really happy for you as you're bridging the gap to your eventual SVR. Positive thinking, baby!

Aww - thank you Sabre! Your happy wishes means a lot to me..  :)  Things will get better I know. They moved my mom to a skilled nursing facility today and she starts rehab tomorrow. She actually walked about 15 ft with her walker yesterday and today we had her get out of bed for a bit, sit in a chair and she walked about 12-15 ft with her walker. She did tell me I was bossy and lucky she didn't have a stick or she'd smack me with it!  ;D So glad she has a fighting spirit!

You should be coming up on your 12 wk EOT labs pretty soon too shouldn't you? Sometime in the next few weeks? Have you had any post tx labs yet?  I sure am praying for you too my friend and am looking forward to walking the Happy Trail of SVR with you!!!
Peace, love and happiness my friend ~ Robin

That's great that your mom is on the mend and will begin the rehab process. But for your own safety, you may want to keep a good stick's distance away for while!

That is correct, my 12 week EOT labs are fast approaching. Where did the summer go? I'll get the blood draw a week before my 9/25 appointment with my hepatologist.

I have not had any post-treatment labs aside from those for my kidney function. Surprisingly, my kidneys are picking up a little since EOT. Maybe that is a sign that HCV was a main factor in their decline.

Take care and I'll hope to be waiting for you on the SVR Happy Trail!
