THE DAY has arrived!  Down the hatch! 

I have been waiting and thinking about this day for quite some time, and it was almost anti-climactic to actually take the pill.  The Earth continued to rotate on its axis and I feel no different at all except for a deep tidal shift in my soul.  There's a feeling, finally, of hope that things are going to return to their normal order.

I want to thank everybody in the forum for all your posts, which have educated me quite well and I look forward to keeping track of everyone and posting my progress as well. 

I still can't believe I lived to see this day.

Yay!  Great news Straycat - do let us know how it goes.  I'm on day 10.  A bit of a headache yesterday and today, and occasional backache, but that could be just normal life - too easy to put stuff down to side effects so I am trying not to do that. Like you, it's still hard to believe I am actually taking these pills each day finally...

Peg inf + riba 1999, stopped at 25 weeks due to side effects-undetected then but reappeared within 3 months.
Liver biopsy 2006 - stage 0-1.
Fibroscan 2015 - stage 0-1.
VL >12 million.
AST, ALT high normal range.
7/17/15 Started Harvoni for 12 weeks.
8/4/15   VL 70, AST 19, ALT 11

Hi kids!  I'm 4 1/2 weeks in and just had my lab drawn to find out my VL - I'll get results at my doc appt on my birthday, 9/2 (here's hoping I get the best b'day present ever!).

I can't really say whether or not I've been having side effects or not.  I'm tired and have a 'half' headache most days, but it's Aug and hot as blazes so maybe I'm reacting to the heat.  I also have plant allergies and with all the rain we've been having the grass has been popping its pollen all over the place.  So it's hard for me to say if I'd be feeling the same if I weren't taking Harvoni.

I've read some posts from people who are having trouble sleeping.  I've been the exact opposite for years now - I can sleep at the drop of a hat and wake up just as tired as when I lie down.  I think that has to do with my cirrhosis and my meds.  I did have a burst of energy at week 2 of treatment but that fizzled out.  Felt good at the time!

I also have read that some people are having trouble with food - nausea, etc.  Again, I don't know if it's the weather or the treatment, but my appetite is down and I find myself either not hungry at all or starving.  I keep track of the food I eat to make sure I get enough of the right ratio of calories/carbs/protein/fat and to make sure I'm eating food that provides the most nutritional 'bang for the buck'.

All in all, sides or not, it's been a smooth ride so far and I'm looking forward to posting my lab results next time.  Take care everyone :)

I had trouble working out whether I was having sx, or just feeling tired and lazy. I figured that if I couldn't really differentiate, they weren't too bad.

 ;D  OMG  No virus detected and my AST and ALT are normal (from an avg 110- 150 before I started Harvoni)   ;D

All the half-headaches are gone and my level of fatigue has improved a little, too.  It's going to be very interesting to see how much better I feel after I'm done taking the Harvoni and my body settles down.  What's my new normal going to feel like?  What's going to happen with my cirrhosis?  I can't wait to find out!

So tickled for you Straycat!!  Like you I contracted the virus long ago, was diagnosed over 10 years ago however I refused the IFN treatment.  Being single and having to work so I could buy groceries and pay rent was far more important for me so I waited. 

Harvoni seems to be a miracle cure and I hope and pray each and everyone who begins sees excellent results, as well as those taking the VK Pak.  Let's wipe this disease off the face of the earth!

I am on day 10 and I have noticed my sleep and breathing is better.
It seems like as with a car engine that's starting to fire on more cylinders.
I'm glad for you. Well us. This disease has been a nightmare. But it's all over now.

Welcome to the Harvoni Train, Sheltonmj.  I am so glad treatment is now available for us tired old souls who have had to deal with it for so long.  People just don't realize how tired this disease makes you.  I used to get up and do what I could as the energy I would have appeared, now I am on  do this, do that on a daily basis.  What will I do when I run out of things to do?

 Hey Guys, How is the train ride going out  there. I'm just kicked back in old caboose just rockin to the rhythm of the train. 9 1/2 weeks here , things are still holding steady as far as My sx. are concerned. Go in the 17Th. to get My lab results. Again, still cautiously optimistic/ anxious, but encouraged. Hope all You guys are doing as well .
  Two visuals popped into My brain as I was reading the latest posts here. One is the childrens story about Thomas the steam engine that I read to all My kids years ago. I THINK I CAN , I THINK I CAN , I THINK I CAN!!!!!
 And the second one is Reefer Madness.  i.e. What am I going to do when the Harvoni is finished.  Hey buddy can You spare a Harvoni, Just one??? LMFAO.
  Wishing for all to get treatment and SVR as soon as Humanly possible. Health and Big Business do not belong in the same world together.
