Hi DM,

Finish line in sight! Congratulations  8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

thanks bbc!

My bili is high too, but my eyes haven't turned yellow.  Apparently a high bilirubin count is one of the side effects.

Yep DM,

My eyes have turned light yellow, prolly the riba... Small price to pay.

Glad you're not though :) Our liver's are on their way to healing.

Been scouting around and found out it takes about 4 months for our liver to completely replace itself. I'm guessing all of the really bad sx should be gone by 4 months EOT. Clearly not a scientific theory. Just my own high hopes :)

On to 5! very shortly. Go DM GO! :D

Yes, drummer we are.  I don't know about you but I'm trying to stay out of my head (funny those head trips) and stay positive no matter what.  It's hard not to tag every ache and pain...

And, there is a whole slew of use ending treatment within weeks of each other.  I can't wait for us all to celebrate on the other side!  ;)

Remember, we are all different. Don't attribute any pains etc. to post tx issues. You have a period where you will feel crap for a while, and that's normal. It will pass. Like Bree said. It's important to stay out of your head. Cal :)

not going back.

dm

I know, It's scary over there in post-tx. But remember, the people who are posting there are the people having the most problems (like me - haha!). Philadelphia has been posting her positive post-tx experiences there, and some other are too.

We'll all be having a big ole party soon. ;)

cheers,

Only if you can clap on 2 and 4.   Commence practicing now.

and yes, it is mad.... weird thing is , I can't even remember how long. I was on interferon tx and the shots,  did I take a shot every day??  I have totally blocked all of the out.  It was miserable.  I do remember being taken off tx for not responding.  I was actually  glad.... it was that bad.

OK DM,
I'm practising 2 and 4 8)

I have the same issue with ifn tx. I think it was so bad and we were in such a fog that it is forgotten and good luck to it too! I recall a jab every Friday and Ribas everyday. I recall my hair falling out. I recall needing to lay down or plank as I used to call it. Planking was the craze then ;D I do remember being on antibiotics and losing so much weight I frightened small children and animals :o I remember being taken off 2 weeks shy of completing and then the relapse news. Like you I was just glad to get off it. I don't think I blinked when they told me I relapsed. It wasn't till later and I didn't bounce back and got all the co morbidities occurring that I wish I had gone the distance. But maybe I would have relapsed anyway. History and it can stay that way. Viekira has given me and all of us, a second bite at the cherry. I will have to be in a coma before I quit. And then I'd ask to be woken up chemically to take my meds at 7.30am and pm anyway.  :P Cal

Very good (on the 2 and 4!)

I have forgotten (blanked out) so many details.  My wife tells me I was pretty nutty and I do remember getting in some really stupid nasty fights on some forums... not like me at all.    And all for a 35% chance of svr. I remember having to use valet parking cause I couldn't walk up the hill from the parking lot to the med center.    I remember an hcv nurse online, telling me to wait on a better tx... but I wouldn't could not be swayed.

Oh well,  at least (as oft said) I gave my liver  few week rest and it also got me interested and educated  in sups, liver friendly foods, IR and other regiments that I truly believe slowed down the progression of liver damage.  So , some good did come out of it!

Dm, just a quick question, because your viral load was almost as high as mine. During the first week I felt several liver quivers,,,it was strange and then about day 7 or 8 I really felt like the virus was practically gone with a new energy level and my sleep changed. Not that I slept more mind you, in fact I have been sleeping less, but the quality. No longer do I wake up every hour on the hour and feel exhausted the entire day. Just curious if you experienced this also?

Scout, I know DM will answer too but I wanted to respond as I had almost the same VL as you (mine was 13.5+M) and I'm on Harvoni.  My experience.  I had liver quivers and actually jabs first week or so and felt like meds were attacking virus in liver.  Around the same time as you I felt different like the virus was gone, new energy, etc.  My sleep has been all over the map.  Sleep was an issue before, and dreams were very strange on Harvoni... this past week waking up after 4 or 5 hours, can't sleep anymore, don't feel same kind of fatigue I felt before.  (Woke up at 3:30 this morning. Can't go back to sleep).

DM, I went over to post treatment... Of course I had to pick out the thread that scared me the most. I think I'll be careful with myself and "what goes in" post treatment because I need to believe I am cured.  I also want to believe I won't have many post symptoms (trying to plant that seed).  We're all different and need to handle our recovery different ways.  I'm thankful the forums are here for all of us!

When you get to a fork in the road, take it.

I stayed with friends in Montclair in January. Ted took me out to MSU and I saw the Yogi Berra stadium. Zoe hung some wallpaper for him ages ago and he signed some for her. She said he was a lovely person.

Let's see it's Drummerman, Bree aka The New Me Bree... Beto, Gnatty, Scout, Tommy (I think is close?)... did I miss anyone?
And, Cal and Byebyec will join us before we know it.

22 days dm and on my last day I am buying a lottery ticket and taking 200.00 and going to the riverboat casino and letting it ride....LOL....I am sooooo over dealing with this disease. The stress of just having it along with the pain in my joints has really been almost unbearable at times. It was partly to blame for the end of my marriage, he just didn't understand, and taken time away from my children because I just couldn't do things with them from the fatigue.  I am over this beast and ready to start a new chapter

Bree & DM , Congratulations on graduating from the treatment course guys!!! Here is to Your EOT ceremonies and upcoming SVR. Man We need some kind of diploma, certificate , chit , or something to commemorate these moments. I like Lynn going to the Harvoni wall & getting Her key chain. Very fitting for You guys ending up on a Sunday.
Newmebree!! I like that one. Yep , started 10 day count down this morning! It's weird though------ I know how many pills there are! When EOT date is! And Yet I still obsess with counting those damn pills!!!!!! Counted them twice last nite after someone mentioned it. This Morning , counted them when I dosed. Then again after getting out of the shower & making a cup of coffee. Positively anal how human nature can be when it comes to obsessing about things.
DM, re: warm sake please.  My favorite sushi bar closed up several years ago, used to get a table close to the Koi pond. Brings back memories of warm sake , Ahi Tuna sushi , and  cold Kirin beer. That was way before Sushi was cool!
BTW, I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of My Heart. I believe that I was destined to have all of the bad Sx's that lead me to Lucinda's' blog & and on to the forums to You guys. If not for that, I might have stopped Tx. There are some tough S.O.B.s out there in Hepville. Way tougher than Myself, You all deserve a pat on the back and much congratulations.

Thanks Tommy!

We have a great sushi bar here.  Maybe good place to celebrate.  Of course now I have to make sure everything in my sushi is cooked.  But they have some great items without raw anything.  Gotta be careful Hep B on top of HC is a b*tch.

Hep B too.   and I love raw oysters!  Anyway, wish I could give you that vicarious thrill, only problem is I quit drinking in 2006 :(
The "warm sake" was a Kill Bill reference.  My favorite movie to watch when tx'ing!

Weird thing is.... I quit about 2 months before I was diagnosed.  Something or someone was just telling me to quit... so I did.  On July 5, 2006.

And I love beer!!! Was into home brewing for years.... gave  all my equipment away.

sorry so yakkity yakkity...Just took my last am dose and I am in the super HYPER!!!!! phase, will last about 3 hours...uggh.

  DM,

It's Your thing, do what You want to do!!!! LOL!!!! Your deserve it. Yakkity yak all You want!!!!
Ironic that back in the day , I pretty much lived on raw seafood , whisky , beer , and Tylenol!!!!! Never gave much thought about water , veggies , or eating healthy. Much less the massive amounts of Tylenol I was taking and what it must have done to My liver. Oh well , We are getting a new lease on Life and therefore must act accordingly on said new lease.

Congrats Drummerman!  I take my last pill at 9 p.m. tonight.  Think I will sleep with my Harvoni bottle.   I do kiss it most nights!

I am quietly optimistic.  Just feel cured... yep, staying with that thought!
No going down the rabbit hole!

I'm really very grateful, don't know if I ever thought I would see this opportunity.

Tommy, I've counted my pills even when down to three... and last night when there were only 2 and the moisture absorber, it seemed so strange.  Just think of the power in one pill.  wow.

I think it's fine to post links here as long as it's not flogging a product. People post other types of links all the time. You just can't post a link to your secret magical herbal supplement for $49.95. That sort of thing.

Oh hey, and WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE!  8)

I think you are normal now. You have found your inner child again. You are having fun and celebrating life. You're also a man, and sine time began your gender has had a fascination with fire. thanks Marianne!  Guess the most important countdown begins today.  I get blood drawn a week from tuesday so should have a new vl result in a week and half.
Glad my doc is old school , cause he's always doing vl tests.  Have a feeling thats not going to last once the insurance companies start griping about it.  So far, mine has said nothing...knock on wood.

I think it's fine to post links here as long as it's not flogging a product. People post other types of links all the time. You just can't post a link to your secret magical herbal supplement for $49.95. That sort of thing.

Oh hey, and WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE!  8)

kim

Thanks for the welcome kim!

May repost video later tonight briefly.  Its really stupid...... so everyone should watch.

Hey DM... I feel excited to be done and already and already watching my monkey mind play tricks.  I went to get blood work this morning, he said anytime within one week EOT... and of course, I had to go at the earliest moment since the only VL I got was at 4 weeks.  Rude nurse, bruised hand, I almost cried afterward.  I'll write more about it my my EOT Strong and Positive thread (I'm trying, I really am).  So lucky I didn't have riba to deal with.

Hey, what if you did a countup now instead of a countdown?  I have an idea on my new tread.... I might take a day to two to go on post.... dunno what I'm doing at the moment!  Anyway, here's to us and those coming up the ranks!!!  Job well done!

Wow,  I've never had em use my hand.  They always use my arm.  And sometimes I bruise bad, esp at the docs office... at the lab where they draw blood for vl test they are very good and rarely leave a bruise.
I think I read somewhere that bruising easily is a symptom of a damaged liver..... but ,... they are also screwing up when they bruise you.  The good ones don't bruise.  I always want to tell them what they are doing wrong... but never do.  Nurses and docs hate to be corrected.  As George Costanza sarcastically says " they are delicate geniuses"

I use to almost pass out, and have had to lay down on occasion....but now , it doesn't even phase me.

Can't find link.  Am I challenged or what?

Ok.  Reposting.
Will only leave up for a while.  Be sure your volume is turned down.
Youtube is already on to me that this uses copyrighted material.... (that was fast!)  They must have a program that listens (like Shazam) and identifies the song.

At the cost of viekira there must be about 500 dollars worth of empty boxes in flames!

It's funny.  The boxes won't even burn!  You had fancy boxes.... Harvoni is in the plainest, simplest bottle you can imagine.  For the price, I thought it would be a beautifully packaged bottle.  They didn't put their money into packaging for sure.
I guess it's what's inside that counts.  You burned yours, I kissed mine.  ha.

I got the riba rage when I had to do it with interferon....so I was really nervous about the riba.

I even got kicked off a couple of forums....I was out of control.   And had to force myself to keep my mouth shut around family and friends.  Should of done the same on the forums.  Does anyone remember the forum that had the "Dungeon" where you went to vent and rant??  It was a scary place. :o

Congrats to all who recently finished and all who are about to finish.

Today is the 44th anniversary of the surgery that gave me Hep C. 09/29/71 happened to be the Jewish Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) that year. Although neither the surgeon nor I were Jewish, AFAIK he got off scot free, but I've been atoning for I-don't-know-what ever since (or at least until Harvoni finished off the Hep C, sometime between 6 a.m. this July 9 and the labs 4 weeks later).

Two pills to go: 6 a.m. today and tomorrow. Looking forward to a later alarm on Thursday.

Gnatty
9/29/71 transfusions
HCV genotype 1a
7/09/15-9/30/15 Harvoni

Before treatment:
Viral Load 9,490,582
FibroScan 19.5 kPa [F4]
ALT 262
AST 217
ALP 183

Most recent:
VL still UNDETECTED (SVR 102)
FibroScan 7.6 kPa [F1-2]
ALT 15
AST 20
ALP 85

Thanks, Cal. But I didn't know I had it for nearly 31 of the 44 years. How about you? Wasn't 37 years ago still before Hep C had a name (other than non-A, non-B)? I thought 1992 was when they figured out how to keep it out of the blood supply.

Thanks, Bree. Maybe I'm too used to taking other meds (e.g., blood thinner for >15 years) to feel anything other than glad I can set a later alarm.

Either 1991 or 1992 was when they started testing for it in the blood banks here in Australia. I thought it was named C in 1988 or 89. Lucinda wrote a blog post about the history of it - I'm sure the info is there.

Gnatty

Go Gnatty!  Congrats on finishing up!

Reading this thread had me laughing and cheering! Optimism running rampant!  So happy for all of you reaching EOT !  I am 2 months on the other side - vpak and riba for 12 weeks- and feeling better every day.
I was undetected since week 4 and EOT - 4 weeks post EOT, still undetected. Waiting now for 12 week svr, which will be done first week in November.
Let's get this EOT party started! Let's also continue to encourage those that come after us and learn from those that have gone before us.
Cheers to you all!

Tommy, I am going to assume you are in the USA since your gonna have a gator burger,,,,,I think for many of us the adjustment of not having hep c anymore will take some getting used to. Now I am gonna have to cope with the fact that I am just getting old,,,,LOL...that's ok though, at least now I feel like I am gonna have a shot of reaching retirement age, honestly I didn't think that was really going to be an option. 19 more days for me....my next journey is to kick the smoking,,

Hi Yall... time for my daily forum dose!  The only medicine I need!  It was so strange... it was 9:34 when I noticed the time last night... 34 minutes past my pill time and I realized how quickly I will adapt.  Slept pretty well too.

Slats, thanks for asking...feels very good to be on the other side... just to invite me to appreciate it more, I came down with a bug right at the end.  Are you kidding me?  But, that's o.k., because I know what I know and I know that I'll soon have a life I have never known.  Got my blood work (except VL not in yet) all normal, LFT's normal, platelets a little low (always that way) but other than that, good to go.

As I say... normal is the setting on a dryer! HA!  Stoked anyway... Bree

Hey DM how's it going? Seems kinda quiet without all the Riba Yackety Yack! To bad the packing probably contained harsh chemicals , or You could have roasted some marshmallows real quick!
Scout, what's the game plan on quitting the Cigs. for You? I am down to a pack a week or so. Except when anxiety & stress levels rise. Not an excuse , but when I get the headaches it seems help them a little! Every time I get down to the wire as far as quitting , the crap seems to hit the fan and of to the races again!

I got a book that several friends used, it's a small book but for 45 days it walks you through breaking your habits while you still smoke. For instance waiting 10 min to smoke your cig. But if you forget and later you want to smoke you have to wait 10 min to smoke. It has you do that sorta thing, so that when the quit date finally arrives you don't have to go on Lithium for the stress. LOL...I know several people who have actually quit with this little book. I will get the name of it, it's at the public library. I am not at home right now. Boy, I wish I only smoked a pack a week. Your doing real good

I wonder if  you guys are allowed nicotine patches.? Probably not. Good luck both of you. It makes sense to keep looking after your liver now it's virus free. Cigs aren't good for the liver either. Cal :)

I will be done taking Harvoni Oct 18, that's why I picked Nov 1 to start my quitting smoking.  But there really are very few things that you shouldn't take while on Harvoni,,,like antacids and herbal stuff. Woo woo almost done!!
