Do I still have to rest often?
« on: September 22, 2015, 10:51:04 pm »
I have done very little motion wise for so many years,
Sitting still and resting has been the rule of life for so long I have forgotten what I can do physically.
I go to the gym often. Before I became ill I was doing three hundred push ups a day and power walking five miles daily.
Now it's 930 at night and I am full of it and wanting to go to the gym and play.
Just like a kid.
So is ok to pop till I drop. ?  Or should I slowly increase my regime?
 Thanks
 Mike.

I would recommend you ask your doctor about that but a rule of thumb is to listen to your body.

Have you treated or are you currently on treatment? What treatment?

Yes
I am day 17 of Harvoni.
My brain goes nonstop. I am on two antidepressants. Two anti anxiety. Pills.
I've had to go outpatient for stress related Malays and stay pretty scatter brained.
No narcotics no alcohol no ran Tabaco products.
I have drank diet drinks for years as I avoid sugars to the point of no bread or whole milk.
 I try so hard.
But now that the struggle seems to be ending I want to get out and enjoy.

Well with cirrhosis I would hope and expect no alcohol anything else would be foolhardy as for us with cirrhosis if we want to live alcohol is not an option.

And of course smoking is good for no one just another chemical for our bodies to process.

But again just to restate I would recommend you ask your doctor before embarking on an exercised regimen

Just to add even when cured of hep c we will still have cirrhosis of the liver likely for the rest of our lives so we must continue to be kind to our livers.

We will still need AFP  and liver function tests and abdominal ultrasounds at least every 6 months or as recommended by our liver specialists to monitor for possible liver cancer. This will be for the rest of our lives as well as seeing our hepatologist at least annually.

Good luck
