Harvoni side effects?
« on: September 22, 2015, 02:56:44 pm »
I'm about a week into harvoni, and I get the expected tiredness but it's not severe enough to be an issue. The problem I am now noticing is acne.  I havnt had acne in years and this past week I have been getting breakouts on my face back and chest.  I talked to my pharmacist and she said it is a possible side effect- so pretty vague.  Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this with harvoni.
Genotype 1a.
IV drug use.
Diagnosed 6/15.
Started Harvoni 9/17/15.

Hi, Arielled --

Welcome to the hep forums, and sorry you have had fatigue and acne.

A forum member taking Harvoni posted about having acne breakouts on chest, back, and face: http://forums.hepmag.com/index.php?topic=3195.msg27387#msg27387

I'm finishing week 11 of Harvoni and have had more pimples on my face and neck than in a very long time, but not a lot more.

Best wishes with treatment. You'll be getting terrific lab results before you know it.

Funny but I am a bit of an old fart, but I did experience unusual skin reactions when I first started onto Harvoni. I thought nothing of it because it was just minor and mostly on my forehead and nose. My skin started to suddenly feel more greasy. And I wasn't even piggin' out on pork chops!

What I did was go to a sauna and then take a cold shower a few times. My skin pinked up and I started to feel like a young pup. Then I remembered the advice to keep well hydrated and presto my skin problems vanished.

So treat yourself to a good sauna bath stay well hydrated and let your pores open up and breath is the best advice I can give you.

The experience of having teenage like skin for a while was a bit of a blast IMO  8)

All the best reaching SVR
Eric
