Hi Dot.  Welcome!  :)

I'm 5 1/2 weeks into a 12wk course of Harvoni.  I had a few morning headaches in the first couple of weeks.  Immediately guzzling a 8-10oz bottle of water always seemed to take care of them.  Then they stopped entirely.

I hope you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

I am now over eight weeks on Harvoni, of the 12 week as prescribed, and I get headaches every day. Sleep for a nap always cures them, for a few hours. I drink a ton of water, and coffee. I'm keeping my thoughts positive in my spirit up, I know this is gonna work!  ❤️Katie

Welcome Dot. From what I've read most of us experience some headaches no matter which treatment we are on. I sometimes wake up with a headache but everyone suggested I drink as much water as possible and believe me, it does make a difference. I had one day during the first week where I woke up with a migraine that lasted the entire day. Now they are just minor headaches that go away with rest. It pays to keep note of what works for you. Everybody responds differently to each medication. Side effects are the same. You'll get a lot of great suggestions from people here. Try them and see which ones give you the best result. The one thing most of us agree on is drinking plenty of water. I quickly learned to have a 16 oz bottle with me at all times. Wishing you the best!

Bah!  This 4am headache thing is getting REALLY old.  :(  This is six freakin' days in a row.  Water's not working.  Aspirin barely does.

I don't know whether to attribute it to Harvoni or not, frankly.  It doesn't seem like I'd have a few minor ones on start-up then have really nasty ones kick in 2 months into it.  Then again, I'm not much of a headache person so I don't know what else to attribute them to.  ???

Yanno what does work?  The third cup of coffee.  And I'm from the PacNW so when I say "cup of coffee"  I really mean "gigantic mug".

Doesn't seem to be the healthiest choice but it beats handfuls of aspirin that I'm not inclined to take all day.

Else. At my next visit I plan on talking to my doctor about ambien that I was prescribed pre treatment. I noticed I sometimes woke with a slight headache even before tx so it's possible that's the cause. Because I already had anxiety and insomnia they have me taking my Sovaldi in the morning and my last dose of Riba before 4pm. I was wondering if extended release or possibly changing to Lunesta would help. The headaches have only been bad 2 of the 19 days. 1 of them being my worst side effect so far. That's still pretty good and my sleep is important.  Coffee and lots of water, especially in the morning eases them. Good luck

Thanks Jaf.

I'm glad you're running your medication choices past your doctor.  Good luck!  It sounds like you're doing well, all things considered.
