Difficulty Concentrating on Harvoni?
« on: November 11, 2015, 07:39:30 am »
Hi all;

I am on Day 15 of Harvoni Tx.  Genotype 1a - 2 prior treatments with interferon and Ribaviran (18 months) with no results.  Agree that the side effects are nothing like the interferon. I am also waking up at 4:00 am.  Fatigue is certainly a side effect.  Is anyone having difficulty concentrating?  I can't seem to stay on track during the day.  I work from home but stressful job.

Dk0120, welcome to the forums. Others have reported difficulty concentrating. I trust at least some of them will find this thread. Best of luck to you.   -Gnatty

Sleep disruption, on or off hep C treatment will cause concentration problems. Fix that and you may notice improvement. I suggest you talk to your doc.

Hi Dk.  It went away, but for my first few weeks (or maybe a month) I was getting those 4am wake-up calls from Harvoni.

And a few others have posted about it too.  Isn't that strange?   :o  What is the magical significance of 4am?!?

Anyway, I was usually able to go back to sleep and, as I said, it finally went away.  It is curious the random similarities I find on the forums.  ???

Hallo Dk,
I have the same, today is mij day 10 and I must study this week at home for my job. It is blended learning (e-learning) . But I cannot concentrate also like you. Can read the words but they don't land in my brains and just fly away.
I can do things in the household, washing, cleaning up etc but work with needs thinking is difficult.
I have a constant speedy feeling, and sleep is a problem, so I asked my doctor for some sleep medication.
So now I sleep but the speedy feeling and problems with focussing are still there
And I am very introvert these
days since start Harvoni as if I am living in myself en feel less connected to my husband and daughger, I am not that social als normal.
Wish you all the best and there are coming better days I belief.
Feels a bit like changing my personality these days.

Good luck all!!

I had the exact same sleep disruption. I thought it was so odd that I would wake up at 3:30 to 4 am every morning and be wide awake. There was no chance of going back to sleep. I tried dosing at different times over the 24 weeks and it made no difference. Taking a nap around 1 in the afternoon seemed to help. Only 90 minutes and then on with the day. I think Harvoini messes with your Circadian rythm. Yes it also confused me. I would have a hard time navigation through town. It gets better, you'll be glad you got rid of the Hep C.
I also was on Interferon/Ribavirin for 72 weeks. Your the first person I've heard of that was put through that Hell with no cure achieved. Best of luck, I've been clear for 4 months now.
