Day 4 on Harvoni
« on: December 15, 2015, 01:39:01 am »
I contracted Hep C 46 years ago.
My viral load is in the millions.
My Fibrasure tests (2) came up inconclusive.
My previous (2) liver biopsies were at stage 3 - last one also showed fatty liver.
I have genotype 1a
I am female, 63 years old

I am starting day 5 on Harvoni. The only side effect I have had is that I seem to have more energy which I surely welcome ! I take my pill at 10:00am after breakfast.  I could never get insurance because of my pre-existing condition. It wasn't until Obamacare was available that I was able to get insurance. At first my insurance company would not approve me because my two Fibrasure tests came up inconclusive but my doctor went to bat for me and convinced them to accept my previous two liver biopsies and here I am with a huge smile on my face. For the first time in years I have hope. I was expecting the worst in the way of side effects and have been pleasantly surprised. No matter how bad it should get I was determined to "power through" and get this enemy out of my body. I am so sick of the constant pain in my muscles and the swelling, painful liver and no energy. The fevers and the depression and the hopelessness will be gone and I will have a new life. I will also start getting more excercise now and get weight off and fat out of my liver. I will be thankful for what I have left of my liver when this is all over. It's been very embarrassing to admit to this disease. 46 years of living with this will be over !!! Thank you President Obama for my insurance !

I'm on day 8. Mild side effects - some fatigue, muscle aches but pretty easily tolerated. I exercise every day (some at the gym, but mostly walking a lot) and have found that to be really beneficial, for both body & mind.

Good luck.
