Today Is The Day!
« on: December 06, 2015, 09:40:34 am »
I started my 12 week treatment today! Took my first dose of Harvoni this morning 2.5 hours ago. No side effects at all from it right now. I don't know when they usually kick in on others, but hopefully I will do okay.

Wishing you also all the best for your treatment!
I have the same as Anne, but time goes quick!
Have a good harvoni journey, this medication is very good. In my case after 3 weeks the virus was undectable! My body feels like a chemical factory but with my rational mind I know why that is and that is more than worth it!
start Harvoni 11-02-2015 (november)
Bloodtest 11-09-2015 alt 45 (before treatment 145)
8 weeks treatment
F1
Bloodworks 11-23-2015
HCV not detectable!!!
Rest of the numers in a normal range : ))))

Thank Anne and Madelief! Best to you two in your treatment as well. I just woke up from a 4 hour nap and feel good. Hopefully a good sign.

Went in yesterday for my 4 week lab and a little disappointed.  I asked right away if virus was detectable and the PA said it was. She said the new test they are using at the GI group where I go is not the same as the old test. So it is like comparing apples to oranges. Beyond that she didn't know anything about it and said they were just talking about it.
I also asked what that are seeing at the 4 week mark and she said usually undetectable. She asked if I was taking meds at the same time, avoiding antacids, not missing dose, etc. The whole appointment was a waste of my time.

No need to stress after your four week check-up.  I was detectable my first month, I don't think that is unusual at all.   It will work!  Believe it!

nxs,

You should always ask for copies of your tests, you are entitled to them.  Kinda lame of your PA to leave it so open ended.  What you want to know is, if detectable, what the number is.  It likely is very low and barely detectable, which is as good as undetectable, now having seen many on this forum have a 4 week detectable and go on to clear the virus no problem.

It sounds like they are using a lab that has very sensitive VL results..  They usually look like this <15 or, <12 or 15> 43...  If you had viral loads in the hundred thousands to millions before tx and at 4 weeks you get a substantial lower number, then the meds are doing the job.  There are many examples of that on this forum including folks that showed detection weeks into EOT that cleared.

HCV/nonA,nonB acute phase 1975
HCV detected active 1990
HCV persistent chronic diagnosis 1995
1995 liver enzymes mild elevations
1996 Biopsy F2 fibrosis

2000-to early 2015 Viral load 150, 000 to 800, 000
recent liver enzymes before treatment alt/ast 59to209,  Fibroscan F4,cirrhosis

I agree with beto, get copies of all your labs for your own records.  Shouldn't be a problem for you to get them; my lab actually sends me mine via email after 2-3 weeks. Maybe yours does too, check out the lab's website! Hang in there and good luck, FT
