Anyone developed Gallstone after Harvoni+Ribavirin trt?
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:41:55 am »
My mom have been having very bad pain in her lower right abdominal area throughout the treatment and the pain sticks around after she finished...it is suspected that she developed gallstone and also some gallbladder issues. She was F4 cirrhosis (GT3)...anyone has similar experience here?

It is not uncommon for people with cirrhosis to have gallstones. Do you know if they were present before treatment? I'd be more inclined to blame the hcv than the treatment, but it's worth talking tithe dr about it.

Yes, she had some before but she has never had such intense pain prior the trt. Her bilirubin level once peaked during the trt so I am thinking medication might contributing formation of more pigment stones.

Long before I treated with harvoni I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in Jan 2008 it was also noted I had some gall stones.

About 9 months later I started having bad gall bladder attacks and finally asked my regular doctor she set me up to have my gall bladder removed. That was in Jan 2009.

I am going to guess it is just the gall bladder suffering from the gall stones and not from the Harvoni. I am betting it would have happened whether or not she was treating.

She may want to look into having her gall bladder removed to avoid any more painful attacks. That would be my suggestion.

Good luck
