Some questions
« on: December 18, 2015, 04:03:32 am »
1. My doc wants me to get an MRI scan of the upper abdomen, what does he want to see ?
My fibroscan showed 26 kpa which shows cirrhosis but he was not 100% sure about it. I did refuse to do a liver biopsy so is that why he wants to do the MRI ?

2. What is the significance of viral load ? Is treatment or side effects easier with a lower viral load ? Or is the cure faster ?

The MRI (a type of image study) was most likely ordered to help confirm the cirrhosis diagnoses and to view the extent of scarring.

Viral load has no correlation with liver damage or progression. However, a lower VL can mean a shorter treatment duration for some and can correlate with better treatment outcomes.

Best wishes, Mike
