Clinical trial medication
« on: December 22, 2015, 09:40:44 pm »
Hello everyone!

Today marks a week since I started a clinical trial treatment from Merck. The first day I had no side effects and up until sunday I was feeling pretty good, then all of a sudden I started getting really bad headaches. I have been drinking a lot of water and it kept the headaches at bay but today it's just got unbearable. I came home from work today and just completely shut down, no cell phone, no tv, no noise and took a quick nap. This helped calm the headache significantly! Maybe the headache was due to all the blood work I've been having, this morning before work I had my blood drawn for the third time since I started the treatment, everytime its been around 6-8 FULL vials. I have another blood draw scheduled for the 29th of December. The only other side effect I'm having is slight mood swings but I'm sure this is due to the birth control, I had to start birth control before starting the clinical trial otherwise I wouldn't qualify for the treatment. I am hoping the headaches are just a temporary side effect, I guess I just have to take it day by day. I should know by my next appointment if the treatment is working or not, keeping my fingers crossed! Will keep you all posted on any other side effects if any..

Wishing you all Happy Holidays!

Hi Ladybug. Sorry to hear about the bad headaches. Do you know what drugs you are being given in this trial?

Good luck with your results! I was cured via a clinical trial earlier this year.

Happy holidays to you too,
kim :)

Welcome to the forum. :) To avoid being asked the same questions overland over again, many people fill in their sig with information such as genotype, fibrosis stage, treatment type etc. it's useful information at a glance.

Good luck with your headaches and the trials
