I finished treatment early and I have extra medication, I feel horrible thinking that these medications could go to waste and not help someone else who is struggling for a cure.
Although its not many - is there a donation place I can send them?

Oh, down in the comments! No, I didn't write the blog or any of the comments -- I hadn't even read the comments until you asked about the reference to the Dalai Lama. I can't speak for the comment's writer, but I think she meant to be humorous. I sent you the link because within that post are links to places that take donations of meds under certain circumstances plus info about the relevant laws in various jurisdictions.

Hi and congrats on your cure! How many weeks post treatment are you? Are you SVR4, SVR12 or SVR24 weeks post treatment?

Anyway that was a blog by Lucinda Porter RN that comment was written by her. She is a moderator on this site and goes by her real name.

Congrats again

Elizabethann474, now I know why you asked who wrote the comment -- I just came across something you posted on another thread. You are far from the only person who had a really rough time with ribavirin (Ribasphere). Quite a few people on these forums have experienced rage while on it. It must be a great relief to you that you managed to get cured even though you had to stop treatment early.

SVR means a sustained viral response or in other words that for a given number of weeks after treatment has ended i.e. SVR4, SVR12, SVR24 the virus does not return. SVR 24 with the old treatments was what was considered cured but with the new treatments most are calling SVR12 cured. SVR4 correlates at 98.5% with SVR12  in that the majority of patients who relapse do so in the first 4 weeks.

From my understanding most if not all achieve not detected while on treatment it is the post treatment test for SVR12 that is called cured.

You posted a viral load test was that before treatment?

So I guess my saying I wish you SVR for live is my way of saying I wish you cured of hep c forever for the rest of your life.

Elizabethann474, assuming the Viral Load was also taken in June, I find it very hopeful that your ALT and AST were less than twice the top of the normal range (much better than mine before treatment!), your ALP and bilirubin were normal, and your viral load was low. Since you said you've been off the meds for 3 days, may I assume that you were on the meds for quite a few weeks? And may I assume that your doctor plans to retest your ALT, AST, ALP, Bilirubin and Viral Load again at the appropriate time?
