Harvoni chest pain
« on: February 10, 2016, 08:59:01 pm »
Hi guys, I'm on my 9th week on Harvoni, so far no side effects occurred, here and there mild headaches but for few minutes and that was it. Last couple of days I have breath shortness, I was breathing heavy like I had 500 high cholesterol and today chest pain. Pain like needles in my heart but it goes on and off. Not too bad.. Who else experience same symptoms and if there are people who pass though all his will it pass after or we going to mess up our hearts permanently. I read on tis forum some people still have these symptoms even after 6 months after treatment. Will appreciate any info.

Hi tashagar

Do you have any pre treatment heart conditions and are you on any medications for heart disease? Are you just taking harvoni or are you also taking ribavirin?

Most importantly have you discussed your symptoms with you treating physician?

Hello Lynn, never had any problem with my heart, never received any treatment in past as my heart was always perfectly healthy, I exercising all my life and always in good shape, my heart was healthy and strong. I'm taking only Harvoni. And no, I didn't discussed yet that symptoms with my GI doctor, these symptoms I had for last couple days will see how I feel today and tomorrow and will definitely call my GI doctor. It wasn't very bad but it was something. Hopefully it will go away. Crazy thing also read in here about all symptoms, scary.

I can't speak to side effects to harvoni as I did not have any. I do have some symptoms of advanced liver disease and cirrhosis but I had them before and will continue to have those concerns for at least the foreseeable future.

Hope you figure out what is going on.

Thank you Lynn, so far that was it, 2 days symptoms I described and they never returned. Hopefully it was just my stress. I had no symptoms at all as well just these I described for couple days but as I said I was a little stressed out as well, so hopefully thats what I had. Thank you for support.

I had chest pain and shortness of breath the first two days I started treatment with harvoni. I called the pharmacists at accreda, he told me it was due to the fact that I had to stop taking 40Mg's twice a day of nexicum all at once. He said it could be the acid commuting up my throat, which feels like tightness in the chest and shortness of breath.
I take it now at 5pm and lie down with my head elavated for two hours per day after work.
It has worked for me as far as the chest pain but I still have bad side effects like extreme fatigue and headaches.
If you do not have an acid problem and had to stop taking your medicine, I would defiantly call your doctor.

Hopefully

Thank you hopefully, I will check that with my doctor. I still have only 6 pills left in my treatment and hopefully it won't occur again. Lats night I had chest pain again, I woke up because I had pain in the middle of the night and my last two fingers on my left hand was numb, which I think is actually sign of heart pain, but after pain gone I had stomach spasm for few minutes, so it can be what you just told me , Acids. Well, I want to wait 6 days and I will let my doctor know at my follow up.

Guys thank you all for support. So far I had only these two incidences and I think it was probably my stomach as I eat lot of herring in sour souse the evening before my last incident happened. I had lots of gas into my stomach next morning and I couldn't stop burping for a while. Today was my last pill!! So excited and happy. Next week going for my blood work. Hope everything will be great. Wish me good luck guys. :-)

Good luck, Tashagr. I agree with the others that it would be a really good idea if you saw a doctor  very soon about those symptoms.

I worry about any long term effects Harvoni my be doing to my heart.
I haven't had anymore chest pains after the first two day's of starting treatment. Like I said before I have an severe acid problem and can't tale my Nexium because it interacts with Harvoni medication.
Has anyone on the forum completed their treatment and had any heart problems?
I have a family history of heart disease, so I will be having my heart checked out after I complete my treatment.
On a lighter note I received my 4 weeks results, undetected, yeah!
Still have a way to go, I definitely am thankful for Harvoni and everything they have done to cure this disease.

Hopefully
