Harvoni induced joint pain and natural supplements
« on: March 08, 2016, 08:02:26 pm »
Has anyone used any natural supplements to relieve joint pain? My husband just finished 12 week treatment and has severe joint pain. Can't work out with weight used to or even play his guitar. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It can be difficult post treatment. My joints still ache but it is easing. I do have my range of motion back and am playing some athletic pieces of concert level music much better than I did pre-treatment, but it took almost a year. It seems that many of us experience a ramped up immune system that will manifest in symptoms that are similar to immune caused arthritis.

What has helped me the most is full body exercises with careful stretching of all my limbs, back and especially the hands and arms right up to the scapula. I am using ti chi exercises and more than any form of stretching and exercises it seems to do wonders. The myalgia was very pronounced for at least 4 months but started to completely ease off around 6 months post treatment.

I get my heart rate up with long walks that include stairs and make sure that I break a sweat at least 2-3 times a weeks. I am sure that this is helping me recover more than any medications or changes in diet or the use of supplements will.

I hope your husband starts to see improvement soon but it does take time for some of us.

I hope to post some links to recordings I am making very soon. Especially some very special pieces by of guitar music by Agustin Barrios. Before treatment I had given up all hope of ever playing these wonderful pieces of music again.

Kind regards
Eric
