Missed Dose
« on: April 30, 2016, 12:51:42 pm »
I started Harvoni on 3/30/16 and I am currently 31 days into my 8 week treatment. I had my 4 week labs done this week, and my VL has gone from 1.1 million to UNDETECTED! However last night I absentmindedly forgot to take my dose at 8PM. Had terrible insomnia for the first time(I haven't had any side effects at all for the past month) I remembered at 2am and took my dose immediately.

Do you guys think this will affect my treatment outcome? I am thinking I will take my dose tonight at 8PM as usual but I am a little concerned about the 6 hour overlap. Any advice would be great  :)

Thanks,
Star

Hi Star. Congrats on reaching undetected!!! :)

I am not a doctor, but I think you will be fine with that single dosing out of sync with your schedule. If it were me, I would do what you propose - take your next dose tonight at 8 pm as usual.

cheers,
kim

Kim, I will be taking my next dose in an hour. Can't wait for this disease to be gone for good!

Andrea, hope you get an undetected result as well! It's a great feeling to know this medication is working. :)

I got this from the Harvoni web page

http://www.harvoni.com/taking-harvoni/treatment-with-harvoni

If you miss a dose of HARVONI, take the missed dose as soon as you remember the same day. Do not take more than 1 tablet of HARVONI in a day. Take your next dose of HARVONI at your regular time the next day.

Seeing as you take your dose in the evening I think your plan is fine but when in doubt it s best to ask your doctor or pharmacist or you could contact the Giliead helpline

Hi Stargazer,

I decided to take my pill right after dinner, no way I will every forget to eat dinner!!  I wouldn't worry about it at all.   I set the alarm on my phone, but I am quite ocd so it is always on my mind and have managed to take my pill almost to the minute.  I think they say 1 missed dose should not affect you at all.  It is such a good sign that you are undetected at 4 weeks too.  Hang in there!!!  Brie

I had this happen to me too. My dose is at 10:30am. I had a bad night, up all night and feel asleep at 6am. I slept right through my alarm. I took my pill at 3:30pm as soon as I woke up.
I'm about 22 days in; until now I've taken it to the minute every day so far. Good to hear 1 offset probably won't matter, but I'm still nervous.

Hi BuyaVowel,
I was told that if I missed a dose to take it as soon as I remembered, but not to take 2 in the same day. There have been several discussions here about changing the time by walking if back a little bit each day. Some people on the Harvoni started taking it at night but the Harvoni high interfered with their sleep so they wanted to take it in the AM.Hope this helps.
