Today is my last day

Well, today is my last day of pill popping. Was wondering if there is a list of things I need to throw out to make sure of no reinfection, even if the risk is small.
Still have brain fog so hoping you could all chime in. So fsr...

dsip, those three are what I threw out on my last day of tx. I also sterilized nail clippers, metal nail files, facial-hair scissors, and tweezers.

Thank you. Forgot the nail clippers too. Hair brush should be ok. Someone mentioned that earlier. I know getting hep c is pretty hard anyway but, I just to be safe.

Hi dragonslayerinprogress,

Congrats on getting through treatment!! Here's to a SVR12!

When I finished treatment I got rid of all combs, brushes, clippers, nail equipment, razors and any other thing that might possible lead to reinfection.

I know this was more of a psychological benefit to me rather than reinfection prevention - but I wasn't taking any chance (even if it was a 1-in-a-trillion chance).

Congrats!!! I'm ~ 7 weeks EOT and energy levels still are up and down, but I'm finding a good night's sleep seems to be the ticket.  So hoping you soon feel better, I think from my own experience, it does take some time for many of us. As long as it happens! FT

Congratulations.It sure is a great feeling.I think we all went through that phase of getting rid of things.I had bought cheap toothbrushes at the dollar store and disposable razors and got rid of them every time I used them so that wasn't a issue for me.I just thought about things as I went to use them and if I had to think about them for more than a second I got rid of them.That stuff is cheap enough to buy again so think of it in those terms.If you're anything like me the hard part of the treatment starts now.Waiting for that SVR 12 isn't a pretty thing. :) Keep us posted.

Congratulations to you to Morab.It's the greatest thing in the world seeing this many people finishing treatment and being cured.Cheers

Hi Dragonslayer,

  Congrats on finishing up your treatment!  I went way overboard and changed my toothbrush every week.  Sterilized all clippers, scissors etc. boiled and soaked in bleach and only used disposable razors.   I just felt it was important to not leave anything to chance.  I also threw away my bottles of liquid bandage, anything that I thought might have the possibility of reinfection.  Best of luck!! I didn't throw away anything except one toothbrush at the normal time to replace it.

The day after I finished was for me the same as the day before but with less pills

Thanks everyone. I know it was overkill as blood can't infect you after 72 hours I believe but having lived with this for my whole stinking life, it's wierd how I don't want to get near blood. I am a licensed EMT too. Go figure.
No one really cared in my family.  Not an, "I'm proud of you ," or anything. That hurt. My daughter did bring home a little bit of candy for me which I appreciated. Her dad looked at her and said, "Wow, you spent what, a dollar?" probably hurt me more to hear that than it did her. I started treatment alone with God and ended the same way. Went to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone just for me to celebrate. All your support means more than anything to me. Will still be around and helping if I can.

Hi Dragonslayer,

  Well I am proud of you, and I also am in a similar situation.  But I actually have gotten quite good at taking care of myself and probably wouldn't want it any other way.  So I think getting through this or life without someone pampering you is something to be very proud of.  Of course I would have had much more anxiety and stress if I didn't have all the great people here to rely on!  Put a big smile on your face and know you are not alone, and you deserve to be happy and healthy!!!  Brie

Dragonslayerinprogress, this is a very isolating experience for most of us, I think.  I can count on 1 hand how many people I've told about my HCV, and none is family. So we found our family, on this forum!!  No one can really understand the myriad of emotions that go with this diagnosis better than all of us. So I am very glad you found us, and we are here for you!! Just keep looking forward........ FT

At UC San Fran Hepatology department they say make sure you stay up to date on Hep A and Hep B vaccines. You can get Hep A from eating in a greasy spoon cafe and it would damage the precious liver. Hep B also would wreak havoc!

Since there are vaccines for them, stay protected!
